Thanked: 485My father used to wear this and so did I. I love it, but the wife doesn't. I think sometimes people are negative about scents (and everything else) which are common; even if their brain actually tells them they DO like it...
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Easily done, no apologies needed when you're trying to help! At least there's hope for fans of the original Old Spit. Just wish I could source some here for that price!
You're right, I remember my dad using it along with his DE and Old Spice shaving mug. Remember Millionairre? I aquired a full bottle when my Grandpa passed, I had only just started shaving and loved the oldschool nastiness of it. I looked on ebay and a bottle was going for a small fortune recently. I like Mandom for the same reason. There's a chemist near me with lots of 70's aftershaves, I'll be grabbing a few for the retro manliness factor soon. Gotta love the classics!

Thanked: 983I ran out of the original stuff a while back and when I bought a new bottle (new version of OS) I didn't like the scent that much. I thought it may be something to do with being housed in a plastic bottle, so I transferred the new stuff to the old bottle. It didn't make any difference to the way it smelt and now I can't even sniff the old bottle to catch any lingering odour of the good stuff...Damn it!
I'll be looking for a new AS very soon. Something else that's classic.

It's very widely available here (Qatar) in the white glass bottle, I find that I prefer the "Sensitive" version. I also find that it smells very different when I put it on just after shaving as opposed to putting it on without shaving?
I'm pretty sure that Old Spice was the first ever aftershave that I bought around 1975 (though I guess I may have boght Brut first) and only bought it again last year, so I don't remember how the original compares to the current version. Certainly I'm enjoying it at the moment.

If you have an Indian grocery near you try them. I have bought the new one from India at my local one in the glass bottle and I think it is good stuff. My local Indian grocery also has Godrej shave cream for about $3 ea and I think it is good stuff. Alum blocks as well for a couple of bucks.
It is worth a try.

I was hesitant to wear OS at first because my wife said she loved smelling it on her dad growing up. I mean, who wants to be cuddling with the wife and have her thinking of dad!
Anyways, I have been using it for months and it's my favorite. Love the stuff. My little bit of vintage is almost out which makes me sad. I wish they still sold it.

I remember seeing Millionaire, but I can't recall if I ever smelled it. Old Spice, Brut, and Jovan Musk were my dad's favorites as well as mine.

Ya, Millionaire was a bit of an oxymoron but I enjoyed it. Jovan Musk and Blue Stratos are a couple of the oldies stocked up the road from me, can't wait to get some after Christmas! Feeling retro just thinking about it. I love threads like this, it makes me realise how great the simple things in life really are...
