I could not even imagine I should have taken such a risk when I was shaving!

Definitely not. Argan oil is produced by crushing argan pits, that is the pits of Argania spinosa's fruits.

Seems a bit on the pricey side and is not that much differnet in composition from olive oil.

I know it is a dead thread but have to say that I bought a cheap bottle of "Argan oil of Morocco" at Wally World just to try out. It is not pure Argan but works very well post shave to soften and soothe skin. After a dry down it does not leave your skin looking or feeling oily either.

Yes, tried coconut oil, a solid like lard, from the grocery store. Left my face feeling greasy so stopped using it as a post shave. I use Argan oil post shave and it seems to work better for me. I don't use a pre shave as nothing I tried did anything useful for me.

All you can do is try stuff like coconut oil and Noxzema as a pre shave and see if it does something useful for you.
