As most of my shaving years i never "got" aftershaves except for stinkiness, and therefore never used any; now I'm looking in to it. So funny seeing so many old classics. I'll get some Clubman next trip to the store.

I have been doing cold water, alum, rinse, witch hazel USP.

USP version is the "official" version with 14% alcohol, and i can hardly smell it.

+! on Burts Bees. Nice bergamot scent, not greasy.

I thought the same too about the personal value of just having it on my shelf! I regularly us all the classics: Hai Karate, Brut, Old Spice, Skin Brace, Aqua Velva, Aqua Velva Musk. I just wish my wife liked them as much as I do.

    Big Greg's After Shave

Gin or vodka - 1/2 cup
    Witch Hazel - 1/2 cup
    Alcohol - 1/2 cup
    Veg Glycerin - 2 tablespoons
    Alum - 2 teaspoons
    oils
    lime - 10 drops
    sweet Birch - 10 drops

Heat the vodka or gin in the microwave 1-2 mins and put in 2 teaspoons of alum and stir until dissolved. Alum doesn't dissolve in cold water. Add all ingredients together and put in a dispenser of choice and you got after shave. You can choose what ever oils you like, Sweet Birch and Lime go well together.

    Thanks,

    Big Greg

Cold water rinse, dry off, and then Pinaud Clubman. I love the burn, and then how smooth and slick it makes my face feel. Good stuff.

Sounds interesting - I'll have to try the recipe. I always have tons of gin lying around anyway.

+1 on the Nivea Sensitive skin balm. It's been pretty good for a beginner like me but I'm on the search for something new!

Yep, I'm a beginner too, but the Nivea skin balm is the best stuff I've ever found.
It's even better here lately after an alum block rub and a cold water rinse.
