Budget? A cheap bottle of booze not only is cheap, but it won't go bad for this purpose. Beer would go positively evil in short order and wine would turn to vinegar in fairly short order (I cannot think of much that I'd dislike more than a face full of vinegar).

If budget is tight, witch hazel is pretty cheap at the corner drugstore.

    Just my crotchety opinions....

I remember watching a movie years and years ago, where this old man used Windex!
But on a serious note..........how about Sea breeze? I remember my Mom telling me to use that for acne when I was a teen. Haven't tried it myself so I wonder????
I know we're talking about AS, and thought I'd throw this out here. Pre shave, sometimes I use baking soda, and give the old chrome dome and mug a scrub down, I usually get exceptional shaves after doing this FWIW.......

That is pretty close to what I use on a daily basis

People actually do use vinegar for an aftershave, it is not such a bad idea as it sounds. YMMV

I will take your word for it...actually, I'm sure it is probably great if it weren't for that smell that repulses me. To me, vinegar smells like dirty gym socks.

    As you say, YMMV

You must have very acidic feet then! My gym socks do not remotely remind me of vinegar. Also, I wouldn't want to use them as aftershave. My cat loves the smell, though, and is prone to attacking my shoes and socks...
    I want a lather whip
