    Default Noxema, which product?

Several people here seem to really like Noxema as a pre-shave. I searched SRD with no results and Wal Mart has several different items (including razors). Which product is used for a pre-shave. Or, are all the creams possible depending on personal preference, as most things regarding shaving it seems.

This is what I have used Original Cleansing Cream | Product | Noxzema I think it's very similar to Prep's product and I'm guessing Proraso too
Cool thing about it is you get a large tub 12oz for about the same price as the tiny tubs of the other products

Both Noxzema's work well for a pre-shave prep. I prefer the moisturizing version because the smell of camphor and eucalyptus isn't as strong. If you're a big fan of the Proraso pre-shave cream, you may prefer the Noxzema Classic Clean version better.

I recently started using Noxema Classic Clean and I think it works a little better than Proraso because it seems to add a wee bit of slickness to my lather. It is also cheaper and easier for me to get. I am going to stick with it.

As I've said in a previous thread it smells totally different to Proraso to me more like a disinfectant (or a toilet cleaner). However it does work as a preshave, I've not used it as a post shave as the smell lingers. As an aside Mrs W has tried it as a facial cleanser and seems to like it as the contents of the tub seem to be reducing daily or maybe it's evaporated!!

Got a jar of this this morning. I don't like to form an opinion after one use but the shave this morning was VERY nice. I actually waited till I got back to shave. For the past couple of days I've shaved in the morning and in the evening both trying different things. My skin had become a bit more tender than normal. Today there wasn't any tenderness at all and the only thing different was the Noxema. I used water a little warmer than room temp. I put the scuttle and water in the microwave for 1 min, 30 sec. When I use the microwave I've normally used 2 min. So at first the Noxema classic moisturizing cream is a winner.

When I find a winner (for me) in a pre and/or post shave I"ll be sticking with them forever I think. I have a few products of soap, etc. that I don't prefer but I bought them and have them and I'll probably never use them. I could give them away as gifts. I could even include a note that says "I hate this stuff. I wouldn't let my dog use it so I'll give it to you. Happy "whatever".

The Noxzema is the gift that keeps on giving. I'm happy to hear the product worked well for you. Thanks for giving us an update.

When I have soaps that I don't like to shave with they usually become shower soaps.

Noxzema works great as a preshave--I've been using it for years that way, but I also do something that would be totally frowned upon by the esteemed gentlemen on this forum. After applying the base coat of Noxzema cream I will apply over it a generous lather of CANNED (that's right!) Noxzema Regular shave cream in the white can. The scents are identical so that's not a problem. The resulting shave is as good as any brush/soap/cream combo I have ever tried. Always a zero irritation shave be it with a straight, DE or cartridge when travelling.

I love the brush and soap as much as anyone and the tradition behind it--but 75% of the time it's an all Noxzema shave...Try it--you never know!!!!
