Thanked: 0My girlfriend used some lube in a pinch to shave her legs and loved it. Now it's all that she uses.
I am definitely going to try out some lube for pre shave.

Thanked: 275Silicone lube ("Gun Oil" is one brand) is even better than Astroglide as a pre-shave. IMHO. But it requires soap to wash off, whereas Astroglide is water-soluble.

Tried it last night as both a pre-shave oil and added to the lather... It did work well! The whiskers were shaved off more closely with fewer passes. It made my Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn lather up better, but the lather died sooner. I had to replace a blade in my shavette, so I decided to go with the Astra just for kicks!

You want to hear about the lather dying? I bought a very expensive pre-shave oil at Macy's. It was so bad I won't even mention the brand name, but I paid $29.00 for just a little bit. I put it on, lathered up, and stood there in awe as my usual good batch of lather turned to milk in front of my eyes and all dripped off on my chest. As for pre-shave oil negatively affecting lather, consider me a convert.

I had good results with Astroglide, and it is much cheaper than the expensive stuff I paid for. Also, the expensive stuff was not water-soluble, and I had to wash my hands twice to get it off, a real pain. The Astroglide rinses right off and didn't seem to affect my lather. I make a point of not telling my friends about using Astroglide, for obvious reasons.

I have joined the Astroglide club. I used it the past few shaves and it worked great. I tried both the Astroglide in the tube and also the personal lubricant in the bottle. Both were good. The bottle Astroglide Personal Lubricant seemed more like shaving oil and was very effective but did take a touch more effort to wash off. I filled up my empty expensive shave oil bottle with the Astroglide Personal Lubricant. It looks to save a lot of money.

Thanked: 1After reading this thread, I had to try it. Even with a cheap disposable twin blade (my str8 hadn't arrived yet) the results were AMAZING

When I read AstroGlide in the thread title, I thought the OP was trying to pull one on us. But yes, it does work.

I have been using KY Warming Liquid and it works even better than the Astroglide. Amazing what a close shave I was able to get with just one pass and no razor burn.
