I do it all the time. Most days I load the brush from the soap puck and then a small dollop of cream in to the palm of my hand, load that on to the brush. And then I build lather on the face. I call it my super routine.

I do it almost every day, a dollop of Bigelow cream (from Bath and Body Works) and 8 drops of glycerin (local pharmacy) into my scuttle or bowl followed by dribbles of lather from a mug of soap (Cella, MWF, Tabac, Mama Bear Almond, ProRaso) then mix. What I gain is a creamy lather more resistant to drying giving me greater face time while straight shaving. If my face lather starts to get dry, I dip my brush tip into water and either face lather for more moisture or remix the lather in my scuttle then relather my face where needed. I often relather difficult spots immediately before applying the razor to that spot for optimum beard softness (ease of cutting), cushion, and slickness. The lather in my scuttle dries out faster than unheated bowl lather making more frequent scuttle lather rehydration necessary. The brush tip dipping into water trick was learned from the Chimensch's 30th anniversary shave youtube video.

Glycerin is an excellent "waker upper" for poor lathering soaps.

i tried this last night but got a poor lather if any really, i think it might be my shaving soap or maybe my lathering technique isnt up to par yet, i get a better lather taking some soap and lathering with my fingers than i do with my brush, also my brush is so prickly. makes my face super sensitive.

Yup, i've also taken to adding a couple drops of grapeseed oil (from another thread here) or Tea Tree oil. Works well. if adding tea tree oil, one drop is more than enough otherwise it will kill your lather.
