I've decided I'm going to try using it as a post-shave treatment at first, using Shave Secret as a pre-shave. Proraso shave soap to lather, of course. Can't wait for all my goodies to get in so I can try them out. So sick of shaving with my electric!

I just picked this product up, I usually apply it as soon as I get out of the shower and let it sit for a good 5 mins while I strop/lather. Then if I applied a little much or my skin and wiskers didnt absorbe it all I give it a quick wipe. But if you apply the perfect amount its almost like lotion, your face and beard will suck it all up and itll look like nothings left. in that case I apply cream directly onto skin!

I too just purchased Proraso pre-shave in the glass jar. There are three different colors The green is original menthol, the white is for sensitive skin, and the red is for a heavy or coarse beard. I got the white for sensitive skin and was bummed. It still has way too much menthol IMHO. It does soften the whiskers and prevent razor burn.
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane.

I use the green bottle before every shave and it is amazing. I have sensitive skin, btw.

I have the white Proraso pre-shave cream as well as Cromwell & Cruther's shave oil and Proraso shave cream in the tube. Lately, I've been using the pre-shave cream before my shave cream, and then use the shave oil as an aftershave. This has been working splendidly! The oil quenches and soothes my skin perfectly and eliminates any irritation. Occasionally, I will use the pre-shave cream as well as the oil before I lather. Sometimes I'll use the pre-shave cream as an aftershave. Basically, my Proraso shave cream goes in the middle, and the rest all depends on your skins current mood!
I find one of the greatest after-shave myths is that it needs to say "after-shave".
Not true. After you shave, your skin needs to be soothed and hydrated. How you choose to do this is up to you!

It is good stuff, not much to add to the above, save that I bet you will really like it once you use it.

Thanked: 8My Proraso ritual is always the same, but it took me a while to get something that I was comfortable with. Once I get out of the shower I apply proraso cream and put a hot towel on my face. The eucalyptus oil in the cream provides a nice cooling sensation while I make my lather. If I apply proraso after my first hot towel the effect isnt the same. After my first pass I re-apply the cream and a hot towel and then re-apply the lather for my second pass. For the third pass I find the cream has no further effect so I switch to a light pre-shave oil and lather up.
As for how much to use its up to you... I like to use enough to put a nice film on my face (about two almonds worth) and rub it in for about a minute. I find the longer I rub it in the more eucalyptus cooling effect I get. Again this is something that you will need to experiment with to find your comfort level.

Thanked: 375Noxzema, works just as well and I believe has many of the same ingredients, you'll get a lot more for your money. And if your stuck on getting the little jar just to have the little jar by Proraso, when it's empty fill it with Noxzema.

Just out of curiosity, how do you put a hot towel on your face and prepare your lather at the same time? The only time I've ever had a hot towel was at a barbershop and I was in the reclined chair. Do you not shave after a shower and is that why you use the hot towel? Do you think you'd get the same effect if you put the pre/post shave cream on before a shower...?
Sorry for firing a whole bunch of questions at you lol when I use it, it's as soon as I get out of the shower so I'm just wondering what the differences you and I would get, if any
