Do you just treat the Noxzema as if it were Proraso soap, or do you use it a bit differently? I use Noxzema in the tub all the time on my face in the shower (feels fantastic), so if this works out I may start using it after I go through my supply of Proraso.

Do you think you'd get the same effect if you put the pre/post shave cream on before a shower...?
Sorry for firing a whole bunch of questions at you lol when I use it, it's as soon as I get out of the shower so I'm just wondering what the differences you and I would get, if any
Sorry I should have specified a bit better. Usually I prepare the lather in my bowl first. In my own head the lather gets thicker while I shower. But again thats probably my own observations and not very scientific. I give it a swirl a few times before I lather up after the hot towel treatment to make sure the consistency is just right. Personally I think that the shower only opens up pores so much and a hot towel softens my beard more than a shower does so I always give myself the towel treatment before a shave. Ive always shaved after a shower, probably out of habit more than anything else but I get a noticeably more refreshing shave. I also run 12 kms everyday before I shower so my shower isn't as hot as most cause I am trying to cool down as well. I once tried to put Proraso on before the shower but I wasn't successful with the effect I was looking for. I don't think there would be any real differences between our different approaches. Just a manner of habit

Ah okay, I got you. I tend to shower hotter than most and right before I get out I let the water spray on my face to try to give it just a bit more heat to open my pores up. I then immediately put the pre/post cream on my face...then get ready for my shave, I think that give it enough time to work it's magic to soften up the hairs and all that jazz.

I think that's one of the things that makes wet shaving so great, you kind of develop your own personal ritual.
They're all more or less the same, but you get to inject your personality into it in terms of HOW you choose to do it!

Take Trimmy72 for instance, he takes the Proraso pre/post treatment and makes it his own by using noxzema. Same basic idea, his personal preference. If it works for him, then that's awesome!

That's what it's all about, if you ask me

I use it like Proraso or Prep pre/post cream, rub it into the skin until it disappears, then apply lather, and shave. My shaves seem to be slightly closer, and my skin feels great after . I apply it after I shave too, it takes care of any redness left from shaving, then after say 5 min. or so I wash it off and apply AS

I use it instead of after shave. I just rub it into my skin! I prefer the smell to most after shaves anyway and my girlfriend likes it too
