Proraso Cream
I just got some as I have seen a lot of you guys use this stuff in your ritual. How do you go about using it? On the box it says to apply it and lather right on top of it. Do I use this in place of my pre shave oil? How much should I use? Should I see any on my face after it is applied or does it rub in? Just wondering.

I use about an almond size amount; apply a little bit of water to my hands and rub my hands together then massage the cream into my whiskers and let it set it a bit while I comb my hair. I then apply my lather directly on top of it and let it set in further while I strop my razor.

So it takes the place of pre shave oil?

Thanked: 3225If you are talking the tube version all I do is wet my face, put a bit on the brush that has been dipped in water and the excess water shaken out and apply it to my face. I build a lather on my face by adding a bit of water by dipping just the brush tips in the water as needed and continue to build lather till I have what I want. Usually makes enough lather in/on the brush for 3 passes.

I believe he's talking about the pre-shave cream, which is supposed to be put on before the lather, then you can put some on after shaving as well to prevent irritation... or so I've heard. Either way, I ordered some along with my Proraso shave soap, so I'll soon try both out.

Yeah it's a pre shave so I think it's instead of the oil. Of course there is nothing stopping you from using the oil too. The more the better right?

If its the per shave cream...a little goes a long way. Wet face and apply peanut to almond size with hands. You don't want it to be thick enough to see really. Massage it in and let it sit there while your making lather, brushing hair, or whatever keeps you busy for a few minutes lol.
You can either splash some water on to "thin" it out or remove...or you can lather right on top of it. Try it either way and see what works. Me, I splash a bit of water on it right before I lather.
If its the shaving cream, apply almond size amount to the soaked brush after giving it a few shakes to remove excess water.
Both products are work well once you dial them in.

Thanked: 1195I use it before every shave, it's good stuff. More of a skin conditioner than a glide product IMO. I do what these other gentlemen suggest: massage almond size dollop on my face, let it sit while I prepare my lather etc, and then apply lather on top. It also works well as a post shave, especially if you have a couple spots that feel tender or raw.
