Thread: Clubman Friday

Aloha!

Well, I've been doing a self-imposes Citrus Theme all week. Except for yesterday when I did Pineapple, but most Hawaiians think Pineapple is some kind of Citrus anyway, so no harm, no foul.

So today, it MUST be Clubman LIme Sec for me!



After a Proraso Green shave and aftershave. Proraso Green aftershave has a hint of lime to my nose so it's a natural for the Lime Sec IMHO. A bit better with the lime in Old Spice Lime, but it's Clubman Friday! Must follow tradition. Gladly!

I've received 3 out of 4 that I ordered and tried them out, today will be Bay Rum. The Veg hasn't made it to my door yet, maybe next Friday.

The Vegital has to be quarantined for 3 weeks by the postal inspector before it can continue to its destination.

I had to go downstairs and splash a little Veg on. I don't use it often but have to open it once in a while to make sure it hasn't gone rancid!

I have a new and different review of the Veg.

I gave my daughter who is here for a visit a hug and asked her opinion.

"Reminds me of bubble bath when I was a kid." Was her reply.

I went with my vintage bottle of the Veg this morning. It doesn't last as long as the new stuff, so, just now, I applied another splash of heaven.

I ordered a new Horsehair Brush (Vie-Long from Spain) that came yesterday along with a new bottle of LIlac Veg. I ordered the Veg prematurely (I still had plenty) so I could experiment with that Barber trick I posted earlier of mixing a tablespoon of Wintergreen Alcohol with some water to dilute the Veg and tame it down.

FIRST, I like the Lilac Veg as it is. The key IMO is do not try to smell it out of the bottle as it' is a bit pungent to some from a bottle-sniff. Also, give it a while to sit on the skin before you make a final decision. Most approve after it's applied. But just the same, I experimented;



The new Horsehair brush (my first Horsehair - probably won't be my last) along with the new bottle of Veg and to the far left, the Wintergreen alcohol. This is already cut from 70 percent down to 35 percent by adding distilled water in the decanter to use as a quick aftershave. Since it's already cut by 50 percent, I put in a tablespoon for about 1/4 bottle of the Veg, and then put in about the same amount of distilled water.

It does indeed take a bit of the bite out of the fragrance. You still smell it, but it's not as hard-hitting, yet it seems to last just as long. This may be a solution for those that for some reason don't like the Veg. And, it will double the amount of your aftershave. Again, I like the Veg it as is. But being of inquisitive mind, I just had to experiment with this so-called "Barber-Trick" that I read about.
