Are You Game For A Contest?????
So the holidays are over and it’s time to get back to the everyday routine and for most of you it will be a while until the next holiday.
So, what better time to have a great contest. This one is for those who can appreciate a good aftershave lotion.
The rules are simple. You need to write about your best experience with any aftershave lotion/balm or your worst. Whoever writes the best description and the reason why it was either the best or the worst will be the winner. Extra points will be given for originality.
Maybe the stuff had some exotic mix you just rave about or maybe your wife threw you out of the house or your girlfriend threw you out of bed or your dog packed up and left or maybe the scent led to a life changing experience for the better or worse. Maybe you just want to tell us about your favorite product.
I have to warn you if you say you like Lilac Vegetal you will be an automatic loser cause that’s bottled death. As a matter of fact you probably don’t know this but it’s an historical fact when Paul Revere made his famous ride you know why he wasn’t captured by the British? Well, he was wearing Lilac Vegetal and when those Redcoats got close not only did their horses keel over but the troops just passed out from the fumes.
This contest is open to all SRP members who have at least 50 post counts. No restrictions on where you reside however excepting our friends up North if you reside outside the U.S you will be asked to pay postage on the prize. The contest will be judged by yours truly and any other staff I can rustle up. We’ll let this run until Washington’s Birthday.
Oh yea the prize. The winner will receive one factory sealed 8oz bottle of Royale Bay Rum Aftershave.
Of course staff is not eligible but that does not include our mentors. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Good idea, Spendur! I am so going to enter, but not at this time. With my limited arsenal of AS, the tale I would tell would be quite the challenge for others to follow. Wouldn't be fair!
Thereby, I give you guys a break!
So let's see some entries!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I'll take a stab with Esbjerg Aftershave Oil, although I ordered directly from the manufacturer, SRD has it in stock I noticed.
Using aftershave I found dried my skin out, add in an alum block, coupled with the normal oil removal and skin dryness associated with soaps, my skin would be red and flaky frequently on the sides of my nose, cheeks, and especially areas on my bald forehead.
I usually don't like oils, they gunk up my brush if a pre-shave (unlike the Castle Forbes Pre-Shave Oil recommended by Obie, that could be something else worthy of an entry here), and leave my hands greasy - no thanks. So when I received a sample of the Esbjerg Aftershave Oil, I decided to give it a try.
The stuff was unbelievable - immediately it felt very soothing on my face, applied easily, felt so good going on I ended up rubbing it all over my forehead, under my eyes, anywhere I could get the stuff to go. Afterwards, my hands had a very slight oily feel, and I simply rubbed my arms and my hands were basically dry.
From that point on, my skin has improved immensely, no more flaking, no more dryness, my wife and daughter noticed, which is amazing, and the frequent itching that accompanied the dryness, especially up here in the Winter when it's so dry, has gone, which means no more scratching and making it worse.
After a shave, then I get dressed, and before I leave, I either just use a cologne, or by that time, a nice splash of aftershave goes on nicely, it's great stuff, and I use the Esbjerg Aftershave Oil every shave now, so I highly recommend giving it a try if you have dry skin like me.
Cheers!

Thanked: 1081Heres my entry. My homemade aftershave balm.
250g/ 8.8oz organic refined shea butter.
2 tbl spoons virgin organic argan oil.
2 tbl spoons organic rosehip oil.
1 tbl spoon organic almond oil.
Few drops of essential oil of choice.
Heat over a low heat in a double boiler and mix. Take care not to heat above 175°F/ 80°C otherwise you will ruin the benefits of the ingredients.
The benefits from the butter and oils are huge.
Shea butter. The moisturisers in Shea Butter are the same moisturisers produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin.
I prefer to use refined shea butter as the unrefined smells quite strong and takes away from the essential oils. Source of vitamins A and E.
Argan oil. Contains natural tocopherols (vitamin E), essential fatty acids and antioxidants to help protect from free radicals.
Rosehip oil. Contains vitamins C, A, and K, as well as the essential fatty acids - linoleic acid, linolenic acid, and oleic acid.
Almond oil. Contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and E & is particularly suited for nourishing the skin and known to be effective at moisturising eczema.
For me I find this the most beneficial for my skin type, dry/sensitive, anything with alcohol dries my skin right out so most post shaves are a no go for me.
All in all a perfect way to finish my shave.
I used to look like this
But since using my balm look like this
