I have several bottles of Thayers (I like rose, peach and lavender)...and I have Dickinson's as well. I just can't imagine a shave without Witch Hazel as a follow-up. I also keep some Dickenson's in a small spray bottle and use it as a deodorant as well. Great stuff.

Thanked: 292When I was a teenager many, many years ago, I used witch hazel to help with a bad case of acne. I started shaving with either a DE or injector razor when I first started, but had to switch to an electric to avoid the irritation of a blade. After I outgrew the acne phase, I stopped using witch hazel, but kept shaving with an electric razor for the convenience. When I resumed wet shaving after retirement, I reintroduced the witch hazel to my daily routine. I do not always use a scented AS, but I always use witch hazel.
I recently went on a week-long trip and took a couple of straight razors and other shaving gear with me. Of course, I had to take along a bottle of witch hazel as well.

Thanked: 18[QUOTE=outback;1727065]I wouldn't consider 86% watered down.
And this is cheaper than Dickenson.
And adding one drop of glycerin to the WH in my hand, really keeps your skin soft and moisturized.
But in all honestly...Thayers is much better, but there's allot more ingredients in Thayers, like essential oils, glycerin, and type of alcohol n such, that sets it apart from most others
But for the most part, I'll go cheap most days, and save the Thayers for Sunday. [emoji6][/QUOTE
This too is my routine. Just one drop of glycerin and a handful of thayers w/aloe after every shave

Yes it says Witchhazel 86% but the question is do they water down the witchhazel itself? When it comes to ingredients you can play all kinds of games. I know if you buy a bottle of Dickinson and a bottle of the Wallyworld stuff and compare it they are very different. The Wallyworld stuff is obviously diluted.

I have been using WH for years. I've recently switched over to Thayers and I'm currently enjoying the lemon scent - little more burn with that one than the original. Very refreshing - I use at after the shave and then dry it a bit by fanning the towel around my face, clean everything up, oil the straight razor and then apply the after shave lotion.

I almost always use WH after my shave, then maybe some alum block if necessary and then usually another splash of WH. I am currently using the Thayers Rose scent. I use to use Dickenson's, but prefer Thayers. I like the toner with aloe as very soothing. But any witch hazel is better than without witch hazel IMO.

Thayers sells a specific aftershave witchhazel and it's what I use. It contains a healthy dose of Alcohol and can bite if you be sloppy in your shave technique.
