    Default How to apply aftershave

    Ok guys,

Maybe this is a lame question, but for months now I've been wetshaving, and just kind of splashing / patting on my aftershave.

Watching a video of a barber do a demo shave yesterday, he recommended rubbing in the aftershave.

Is this the "right way" ... a good way... does it matter?

    Thanks,

    Brenton

I am not sure there is a right way.
I rub the aftershave on my face.

I don't think it probably matters too much, I splash/pat to apply and then rub it in.

Of course there is. It has to be rubbed in counterwise with an ostrich feather. Unless of course it is low tide, full moon, you ate pasta three days ago, or the ostrich is called Frodorick, in which case you have to take a birch twig, soak it in AS for a forthnight and smoke it like a incense.

Or you could be a heretic and slap it on, splash it on, spray it on, or rub it on (I usually wet my hands and face with water so it is easier). Try it out yourself and choose what suits you better, mate!

    LOL

    Counterclockwise. Yes, of course!

    Ostrich feathers.

Why wasn't it obvious to me all along?!

Try it and see what works for you. Nothing else, especially nothing that others think, matters.

Are these for the northern or southern hemisphere? I know the toilets flush differently, maybe the rotation is different in OZ?

The only thing I've ever heard about aftershaves is that the faster you can get them on your face after shaving, the better off you'll be. I'm not sure that this is true, but by my logic it does make some sense. After all, applying aftershave 12 hours after shaving won't do too much...

When it comes to the actual application method, I think it's just a question of what works best for you. I have heard, however, that slapping the skin can help increase blood flow, which will cause your face to heal from the micro-damage of shaving... or something like that. Normally I just rub it in and then give myself a nice pat down.
