At first I used the Old Spice, which worked well enough, but my girlfriend at the time didn't like it, so after much begging, I began using the Nivea Balm, the other guys have recommended. She said that was an improvement, but apparently wasn't good enough because she bought me a bottle of C.O. Bigelow Barber balm. Sweet Mary and Mother of Pearl! that stuff has been 10x better than anything else I've used so far.

The winter time really dries out my face. I'v been using Everyman Jack Face lotion or Aubreys men Stock after shave balm. Both woek well.

Nivea Sensitive Skin aftershave balm works great.

The Santa Maria Novella Emulsione Analcolica is superb, but hard to find and pricey.

I'l look for the Bigelow stuff, sounds interesting.

I use Trumpers Sandalwood skin food all year round.

Its absolutely brilliant! No alcohol burn, soothing, smells great and a bottle lasts ages!

In the Norwegian winter; I use Caswell-Massey Number Six ASB or Mama Bear's Winter Aged Spice ASB.

    Both are great.

I usually use Alum bar, then rinse off. Then i will grab my favorite splash. I may use multiple splashes in fact.

One the splash has been splashed on and dried, i will follow up with my ASB. Because at that point, i am splashed out.

    Actually it can be:

Splash Definition | Definition of Splash at Dictionary.com

If you look at number 12 you'll see that it says "a quantity of some liquid or semiliquid substance splashed upon or in a thing" under the definition of splash as a noun.

This is the context in which we all keep using the word. The quantity of liquid is the aftershave and the thing it is spashed upon is ones face. And I guess that the semi-liquid could be skin food or something..! :-)

It also does say in between definition number 9 and 10 that splash can be a noun.

Can we please drop this now?

Default What Post Shave Lotion To Use?

    Gentlemen,

Usually the humble Nivea takes care of my post shave prior to applying aftershave or cologne.

When I feel luxurious, prior to applying Spanish Leather by Truefitt & Hill or Geo F Trumper, or Woods of Windsor, then I indulge my Hollywood face with Trumper's Coral Food. In that case, I apply the aftershave or cologne after the razor has been cleaned, stropped and placed in the rack.

    Regards,

    Obie
