Clubman and memories
So after reading so much about Clubman, I decided to pick up a bottle at the local Walgreens. When I opened it, I immediately remembered the scent of the very first after-shave I ever got when I was 8 or so. Circa 1970s, I had two of these glass bottles that were in the shape of old automobiles. The rear of one of them was the top that screwed off.
So I started Googling and I THINK what I'm reminded of is an old bottle of Avon after-shave. My question is if this is all in my head or if there is some kind of relationship between Clubman and this Avon after-shave. Of course, I don't have these old bottles any more so this is purely "scent memory" but I'm hoping maybe someone out there has this stuff still and can confirm or deny my relationship between these.
Thanks!

I remember the cars, but not a scent that was close to Clubman; my first aftershave was Avon Tai Winds.

So Avon had a line of different scents? I haven't a clue what I had...

Maybe. But for an 8 yr old kid, the bottle was pretty awesome and I got to wear after-shave

yea, Avon was famous for selling their products in highly decorative and fancy shaped decanters. I don't remember Pinaud ever having anything but the classic bottles just they were glass back then.

I have done the scent compare with Clubman and a bunch of others recently. Here's what I have right now.
In order of proximity
Brut: closest to my nose, but Mrs. Dan says it smells like more of a cologne
Canoe: slightly more powdery dry down; very close, appears to last longer
Trufitt & Hill Clubman: my nose lacks the vocabulary to describe the difference, evaporates surprisingly quickly considering it is nearly 10x more expensive than Pinaud
Being as I have been going Clubman crazy of late, some interesting mentions
Brut soap and Brut after shave balm: perfect way to maintain scent integrity through the shaving process if you're using Clubman AS (as a cologne), though the soap is better as a shower soap than a shaving lather
Clubman Country Club shampoo: I use this any time I'm planning on wearing Clubman (or one of the previously mentioned Clubman-inspired variants - Brut, Canoe, T&H Clubman).
I wrote to Pinaud to see if they made an EDT or EDC version of Clubman; sadly, they do not.
My name is Dan and it's been 1 day since I last wore Clubman...
