Looks nice for sure. The one thing I'd be concerned about is those pointy bits. They're long and slender. And kirinite is pretty flexible. I'd probably not do the cut-out, or I would design it so that the pointy bits are supported somehow.

It's nothing more than the fact that we normally place our razors on the bottom of the scales when in the closed position - we are used to seeing them that way and that's how we show the scale shape. Any design that doesn't conform to the norm will fall over therefore the razor will be resting on it's side.
Whether that is important is a purely personal opinion - my preference is for the conventional.
When it comes to scales there's only 1 rule really. When close, the edge must be protected (both for your own safety and the edge). Everything else is preference.
Amazing work.
How does one go about purchasing an unfinished from Bruno?
PM or email is fine :)
ya hes not a bad sort , he,ll get back with you and help you spend your money! just kidding ,, ya just pm and Bruno will get you taken care of, hes a pleasure to deal with , he even puts up with my silly requests you will love it tc and always remember :brunoisright
Looks like i am in the club:Attachment 177340.
This is a custom bruno made for me, loosely based on a lancet grind, i put an 11/16" mappin and webb in for size comparison, the scales are made by val at the gentlemans den in toronto, and were courtesy of phrank, so once again phanks phrank :)
Ed! Wow...That's really nice looking, great design! Now when you shave with it do you just let gravity do the work - because that is a beast of a blade! By the way that is not a lancet, that's a MEGA Lance the ruler of all lancets....all the lancets orbit it
Enjoy!
Bruno as always great work!
Holly bass ted blade grinds, you picked a real treat there Ed,
makes my design choices look like a walk in the park, love the antique look to it.
It came up great since the first grind pics, an awesome collaboration by all involved.
Start working the dumb bells ready for the work out you will get using that behemoth Ed.
Yes, it certainly has some heft, feels a bit like shaving with a small sword (in a good way), i realised at the last minute when i was packing that it wasnt going to fit in the slots in my razor case, so i had to repurpose an old foam inlay that i made for a razor and welsh slate honeAttachment 177353
Pretty rough i know, but there you go, thats the mappin and webb at the back:)
I should call it my andrew box rather than razor case as andrew jm gave me the M&W, and phrank gave me the scales for this one, along with another nice razor too, which is currently on loan :)
Yes I saw the little fella :) Makes the Mappin seem tiny. Would be cool to find a Mappin Lancet to buy, but havent really seen any come up for sale.
Just PM bruno, he will sort you out, i think you can buy through SRD as well. I did some research before i commissioned bruno, and he got good feedback from a few of the more senior members here, so i went with him, i am still only on shave 2 with this beastie and am still getting the angles etc right.
they perform great ! his steel takes a wonderful smooth edge that last, cant say how they hone ,cause I send them straight to Glen for that, but it will shave as good or better than 95 percent of my razors, I have a few customs, but I have 3 brunos , so I would say , buy it or find out who needs hit and get it , (just kidding guys) just pm him or go to SRD tc
The scales are taking shape! Hopefully the pins arrive today, I'll shape the wedge and I'll be finished.

looking good
looks like it needs a nice big blade etching to display with all that balde showing
They have turned out well Ulricus - better than the drawing suggested anyway.:p
Yup - the Ottoman is on mine...and have a Masonic W&B and a, "Celebrated Fine India Steel Set Ready for Use" on the blade face in the shop now. The Ottoman, aside from some pics on here, never seen one before on eBay or anywhere else....but then again, never expected to see a George Brittain Iron Cross either...so patience and keep on looking....:p
Perhaps a bit tacky, but I thought I'd post my own 'brunoblade' :p
I have never kept a blade I made. Even my first blade was sold. For me, the gratification is in making a razor. Truth be told, I shave with a new razor once a week so it's not like I'd have much time to enjoy a large rotation
In any case, Max and I decided to make a razor together to commemorate the victory of Belgium over the US in the soccer world series. I made the blade and ground it, max did the polishing and made the scales. My daughters were so impressed that I had to promise not to sell it so now I do have a razor of my own. The design was something I was playing with at the time and which needs further work. It was called 'predator', and this one was the original design. I think I'll work a bit more on that design in the future. I think I can do some more things with that concept.

Stunning Bruno, I love the detailing along the jimps and the tail.
"Predator" also has football connotations for me - as a kid I dreamed of owning a pair of Adidas Predator boots!
I'm a big fan of Bruno's work. I think I have three now. The first one I got (serpent) I think may well have been the second he made? Is that right Bruno?
Then of course there's the Pi inlay in coticule dust - I really think I put Bruno through hell with that one! :D And then there's the scaleless he just gave me, free of charge!
Always pushing the boundaries, and in particular his own. I really admire that.
James.
Very nice collaboration Bruno
I like the very distinct thumb jips.
What size is it about 11/16 or just a long tang ?
It's about 7/8.
Damn that is deceiving Bruno
that is a long tang and thumb area
In terms of difficulty and complexity, the Lancet grind was the worst. That took a lot of careful thinking and grinding.
In terms of painstaking and time consuming work, the coticule dust inlay was the worst.
I see you changed your Stamp from the Serpent also or was that Mikes stamp on the blank??
No the serpent blade I tried to etch it together with the pattern etching, but that failed badly. The front side mark has stayed the same, but the back side mark (the Lorraine cross) was indeed added later.
I love those rams horn scales. They turned out very beautiful.I have always wanted to try out some rams horn & now I see how they CAN turn out when done very nicely. Theirs Issard sells a rams horn scale set but is nothing like this!!! I fell in love with these as soon as I saw them. Very gorgeous indeed!
