Suavio - originally I had my doubts about the scale shape but I think they are going to really complement the blade.

Suavio, do you intend to make the blade balance if so you may need something heavier than the horn for the wedge, as they are a fairly heavy blade to counterweight. this is why I went with the solid brass, you may be ok with the larger bone area for the wedge with the horn & copper JMO.

Excellent point you have there - they are big heavy blades and I'd forgotten about that in the process of doing the scales. I might do some playing around today and we what will work best. Cheers!

Tonight I got home to an email from Glen(gssixgun). I had Bruno send him a blade to fit with some Glen scales The pics I just received make the wait for the mailman a challenge.

Specs:

Blade: 02 steel @ RHC target 60-61
8/8 size
Polished out
Blued the top of the Tang and Tail to match the file cuts
Scales: Purple / Black G10 @ .110" Thickness
Wedge: Vivid Violet Acrylic
Pins: NiAg
Inside Washers: Brass
Outside Washers: Stacked SS

I can't wait to have it in my hands and take it for it's maiden voyage.

Thanks to Bruno for making it for me and to Glen for all the finish work! This won't be my last Bruno blade.

I had mine done but I couldn't get the scales the same on both sides and I had to push the blade into the scales to get it in. So I'm starting over after I get a scroll saw.
I'm using 113 year old red oak taken from from 2x4's taken out of my house during remodeling. I'll post pics when I get it done.

Much like CoachMike I got my bruno blade sent out to my buddy Val (thegentlemansden) and he just sent me some update pictures. Needless to say I'm getting very anxious to see the final outcome.

The file work is going to be left at the 8oo grit finish for contrast and I have custom color resin blank for the scales on its way from Tom at a company called Beyond Wood products.

This is why I don't sand into the filework, but leave it with the firescale from heat treatment.
That kind of filework is going to be a place that will turn dark over time unless you clean them out each and every time.
Otoh, by leaving the blackness, the steel is protected better, and it will also make a very nice contrast with the polished spine.

The Lighting is pretty bad in the picture and I am told it has a very high polish shine. I can only imagine how its gonna finish and I am already looking forward to getting my design elements together for another bruno blade.

Work has largely been keeping me away from my hobbies, but here's a quick update. All pins are in except the final pivot pin, which can wait until I've finished sanding and polishing the blade. Still have a bit of work to go there.

The scales are stained bone, have a deeper brown colour and variety of tones that these cell phone pictures don't show. The wedge is black horn lined with polished copper. Pins are stainless steel. I added an extra faux (non functional) pin at the rear, just for looks. Two at the front, two at the back, I think it'll look great once done.
