Hi!! It's a fine little razor, but pixel is correct in that the spine has uneven wear, and a good amount of it.
This would be a perfect new thread in the restoration forum. There are a billion more people watch that Forum with plenty of experience that would give you a lot of opinions on how to deal with the blade.
She looks like it would be a bear to hone, but I sure wouldn't have passed it up if it was on the cheap. It'll clean up nicely, either by you, or by the dozens on here who have experience at that sort of thing that you can hire to do it for you.
Either way, it would be very educational for you to get some feedback from that forum, eh?
Good Luck!!!

Shoot, you posted just before I did, eheheheh...
She cleaned up very nicely. What's the other side, where the strange hone wear was, look? You capable of honing it? If so, I'd sure like to know how she turns out. What is it, 9/16-5/8?? somewhere in there? oops, we should take it to the restoration forum...

Wow! Wow! Wow!
I too am a proud member of this club! I love Wade & Butcher and I have many of them. Sadly, not a "Barber's Use", but I will have one one day.
I will soon post the pictures of the ones I have. Long live the Wade & Butcher!

Well, I see the Butcher Shop was a page down! Here is a couple with frosted blades. I suppose the top one is older due to the steel collars and old wedge grind. Never unpinned, just a few bug bites fixed, cleaned and oiled.

I really like these old razors, they just have a certain appealing look to them. I recently bought one on ebay and I can't wait to get it.

Thanked: 88I guess it's time to join up! I have a Max Sprecher restored 8/8 "For Barbers Use" and a "You Lather Well I'll Shave Well" that's about 5/8.
