Thanked: 4Thanks phrank. I think it will too, but it's so faint that I only saw it after I started sanding. :/. I was going to go for mirror finish, but now I don't know WHAT to do. I do know I gotta get the rust off.
I do have the original scales, but they aren't in great shape. I was going to go with a burl of some sort.
Please excuse the dirty hands, I got started a bit ago with some 220 grit.

I just got this in the mail from eBay, it's etched "the hollow ground razor", and it's my first W&B. It's not an FBU (still coveting one), but this one looked decent, was cheap, and has a nice etching. It has some surface corrosion and I don't know how deep it goes. I usually send out razors that need work to experts for restoration, do you guys think it will clean up?
Cheers!

The Butcher Shop
For me it began with honing when I first got into this hobby, so when I went to the member services section to find someone to hone my eBay finds, many of the people who hone also offer more extensive services such as blade restoration and custom scales. From there I started following the "custom builts and restorations" forum, and started to pay attention to who was showing off razors I liked, and contacted those people directly. It's not like pulling out a phone book, but everyone I've come across has been more than helpful.

As RMarsh says, you look in the classifieds and see either someone close in your area, or choose someone whose work you like.
Glen (gssixgun) has done some honing for me and he does an excellent job. Also, all you have to do is look at some of Glen's work and you'll see that his services are much in demand, he does excellent work.
However, he's in another country, so shipping is more etc...so ideally you want to find someone close.
Where I am, there's the Classic Edge not far away, a great store that also provides great honing and restoration services. But he can get real busy at times!
Very locally, there is, thegenthlemansden, who restored both the W&B 9/8 razors I own, and does honing services with like a 5 day out the door and back again service. I pretty much send all my stuff to him, just sent an E-Bay 7/8 Celebrated Hollow Ground razor, along with two others in need of honing and some restore work.
In my opinion, he does superb work, and he does work for people all over the world, Sweden, France etc...he's quite good. Just need to check out his Facebook page and you can see all the work he does.
Either way, take the time to look around, don't be afraid to ask questions and ask for recommendations and things will work out fine.

Well I posted this on the regular razor forum and then found The Butcher Club. Maybe you guys can help me with the below and I am hoping this gets me in the club. Thanks from a beginner.
I have my first collection of Wade & Butcher and I think I have their identities but would love help with two of them that look to be regrinds or unspecified.
The first two I believe I have figured out. From top to bottom the first is a FBU that I want to have reconditioned or reground or the best suggestion to correct it.
The second from top is a Medium Size Holow Ground 5/8, and I am not sure the scales are original since I have not seen this style on one before. I would like to keep it as original as possible but I am not sure what it might take to make it safe and shave ready.
Now the next two I need the help with, I would like to identify them properly and then clean and restore as original as possible and I think they would be candidates to keep the original patina and still be usable.
The first is...
and the second is...
Thanks so much for helping a noobie that's trying to get a good collection of W & B's.

Well I took a friend from out of town to Branson yesterday and we stopped at a couple of antique stores and I lucked out and found a couple of new additions. One is this Wade & Butcher that I did not have yet. Got an awesome deal on them.
Its a "You Lather Well, I'll Shave Well.". The blade looks to be in really good condition, however it does need a little love and some new scales to do it justice.
