The last of my recent RAD obsession should be here tomorrow, took a chance, fully expecting that I'm not going to score on this one, but for the Buy It Now price of $125.00, couldn't pass up taking a chance on this Heljestrand MK 134.

Heck ya , I would bite on that price all day long. Phrank bet you that razor has a nice smile and shaves like a dream.
For that price, I can buy a ton of tape for an extra layer to hone that baby to perfection. Never bet against Swedish steel, and a good honer.(you)

The fact that it was also listed as, "shave ready", well, we'll see, but for that price, even a beat up MK 134 can't be all that bad....

A better pic of my fragile piece.Glad I shaved with it without any issues because it feels so different without a heavier metal frame.

I have never seen one like that, at least not in Ivory. I have one with a removable blade & if I remember correctly it is made by F.W.Soderen & has a steel blade & holder rather than Ivory & has bakelite scales. I did have two but I gifted one to a well known member on here. If you have some of that canned air like for computers, I would use some of it, then tissue paper, but tissue paper will be fine like you initially did IMO. You made a hell of a catch there!

    Default Anybody knows...

What the heck means "Ran Tan Ka Rus"? Something like " abracadabra" maybe? Or an acronym?
My razor do not mention Johan Engstrom, just "made in Sweden". Must I suppose it was made by Engstrom's plant? Drop forged from cable steel?

    Default Heljestrand MK #5

Here's some pics of my first Swedish steel. It's still in the mail currently, so I borrowed the pics from the eBay auction I won them from. It's a MK 5, as the title says, and it needs a little tlc, but it should clean up just nice, and for $75 I can't complain, as from what I've read, the MK 5's are pretty rare and very good blades.

I have my eye of something special but then again I already have something special here...a MK No.31 fancy pants and Mastodon ivory wedge.
I have shaved for months on end in a binge of various Heljestrand. I truly should simply stop. Let me sleep on it.Name: imageedit_50_6760165188.jpg

Life is for living my friend, enjoy it while you can, unless I'm mistaken, there won't be any need to shave in the next life....

Guess I should add, via the SRP Classifieds, my acquisition a few months ago of this lovely Heljestrand Mk. 133

I would rather travel with this one than start my unfortunate massive accumulation phase again!
Planning a trip to St. John's Newfoundland for creative photography, whale, iceberg watching. Renting an 1898 cottage with waterviews. Planning on going alone but would consider an exceptional female intellectual as a travel companion. Carry on luggage only, no excessive makeup and hair products. Want to live like a local whilst there. I will ship a Heljestrand and strop ahead of my arrival and show this Swedish steel some new environs.
