Fillys are specials but, do you think that we love them due to a nostalgic reason too? Can one of today's top notch razors be as good as Fillys? On the other hand, aren't things as they used to be?
Cheers.

We love them because they shave like a dream. I have a barber named Frank from Venezuela who is 75 years old and shaves with a Filly everyday of his life. He has some fairly old razors but he had no complaints about my brand new Filly razor.
You don't have to pull a Filly down your face. You merely have to guide it. The weight of the razor does the work. Most guys shave with a 5/8 full hollow but a Filly is a different experience.
Razors are a matter of personal choice and one of my favorite choices is a Filly........................:)

Dear Jerry,
Thanks for your comments. I never doubted about Fillys qualities. In addition to this, I understand that you must use good tools that also make you feel good when you look at yourself in the mirror.
Frank is an example of Fillys performance (logical side of the brain) and I have four and still have no idea of SR shaving, but I bought some of them when Filarmónica was still opened (emotional side of the brain).
It is difficult that both aspects merge in one as it happens with Fillys.
But my dead line is, is there any other SR brand of today as good as Fillys? Should we use our Fillys because they are as good as others and also cooler? Should we use our Fillys because there is nothing like them regarding quality?
Cheers.
Removed 4mm chip on razor. That such a result ...
2,5 hours of work.
Your opinion, properly whittle down the back?
Sorry for my English ...

Looks not bad. But strong hone wear and chip on the edge.
This is not chipped, I myself saw the late, stuck something ...
Fillys are good but there are other razors that shave well. Custom razors like Mastro Levi, for instance. Custom razors abound and my first Mastro Levi will probably shave better than my Filly. Type "CUSTOM RAZORS" in a search and enjoy the eye candy.
Be prepared to spend a few bucks if your focus is Custom................

Hi guys,
So recently I got this Filarmonica - Doble Temple 14 (thanks to Max).
After browsing Max’s shop several times there was always this yearning to once own one of these wonderful Filarmonicas like the once he had sold earlier. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled on Max’s Doble Temple 14 and found out it was for sale!
I often found Max’s razors sold out but this one was still to have. I clicked all the basket- and enter buttons quicker than my brain could process and I even forgot to chose the way of shipping. After the excitement calmed down I was still surprised that I got hold of one of Max’s beautiful Filarmonicas. Communication with Max was super since he is originally from Belgium and still masters the Dutch language.
The Doble Temple 14 is a sweet looker. In the metal it is remarkable how this razor has kept itself over 50 years. I hope my photos show a little of the beauty of the blade. The black handles are still in perfect shape. I am not familiar with other plastic objects of similar old age but this looks great. The ‘waves’ in the surface of the scale on the logo side are just like craquelé in an old masters painting.
And the single harp emblem, without the ‘Filarmonica’ next to it makes it stand out, I love it. Shaving with the heavy blade is so sweet, Max put a killer edge on it. The handling is very comfortable; the slight off-balance of the blade-heavy razor makes it an impressive heavy-weight.
I now must start getting used to not seeing anything in the mirror when I put the blade to my sideburn; the almost one inch large blade completely blocks my view. The blade’s square point then becomes an impressive stinger to be reckoned with. A cut in the ear is made in split second…
Shave by shave I slowly am getting the Filarmonica ‘bug’ that a lot of folks here also seem to have in plenty.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Guys.
Having been an advocate for the shaving quality of this fine brand, I guess it's about time I showed of a few of my Filarmonica's.
Currently I have 5, looking to make a 7 day set of these shave monsters.
Anyways here is my two first ones. They take an edge like nothing else I've sen and I love shaving with them.
Thank-you sir.

Gents.
I've been lucky again.
Got a few more today, all NOS.
I've got a few of these now, but really wanted the green ones, and nice with the round points for a change.
Wow nice razors.. I have a friend in Spain... I should see if I can find a Filarmonica ..
Birnando...you lucky dawg:rock:. Nice scores. They always say " It's better to be lucky than good". How do you get sooo lucky? Is that one of the Taurinos? There are six, I think and I have been trying to land one of these for awhile...alas, no luck. Who is your source? Do share your secret :).
Enjoy them to the content of your heart my friend.
Birnando, you have a ridiculously impressive collection. Filly's shave like notning else and now I am truly missing my one and only 14 I got rid of. Congrats on your new score, it is truly drool worthy.
I have a question for Filly afficionados: Is there any difference between the Doble Temple #13 that come in the white box and have a stamped tang, Jose Monserrat Pou, and the Sello de Oro in a black box and with an unmarked tang?
Thanks!
well I have purchased one of each from B&B forum members and will find out in a few weeks when they arrive what the differences are!
All the Fily's are fabulous shavers...I have my share of them...
My newest addition and entry into the club: an NOS 7/8 DT 13. Do I have it rescaled or keep it original?

I say keep it original until they break.
