I've converted to the "keep them original" school. Sold my EPBD rescaled by Max, kept the #14 & #13 DTs original. I now enjoy the cheapie scales.

I got my first Filarmonica recently. A NOS 14 Doble Temple with light green scales. What a shave. It certainly won't be my last Filarmonica.
Here is another one that just arrived yesterday.
I have seen one in this thread before, but this one, I believe, is somewhat larger.
It is a C-mon - Filarmonica, made for Peter J. Michels INC.
in Brooklyn New York.
The blade is 1" wide, hollow. It seems to be pretty much the same blade as a EPBD, with a wider spine than the DT's and Medallon Taurinos.
It is in great shape and will be put to the test this very evening.
I'm really exited about this razor:)

When Glen received my Fili for honing, he asked me to make sure I posted pictures, because he said it was different than others he'd seen. He described it as a "transitional" DT because he said it is not as "wedgy" as the newer model NOS blades recently sold by ClassicShaving... So, here it is (although I apologize for the poor quality):

I purchased a couple Filarmonica's from forum members and I won 4 on Ebay last month. I was only expecting to win perhaps 1 because my maximum bid was far lower than what the NOS Filly's usually go for.
I got more than I bargained for and all are in excellent condition, except one has a bit of staining, and a couple have loose scales or scales that do not centre properly.
One of the #13's I got from a member in another forum, the one one in the middle on the left, has speckled pitting on the tang and on the blade but does not affect the shave. This was my favorite razor so far and made me want another filarmonica. Little did I know I would end up with a whole carton of them! Eventually, some of them will go to new homes where someone else can enjoy the smooth shave from a Filarmonica Navaja para afeitar.
So, how do the stainless steel Filarmonicas compare to the carbon steels?
It's a model for hairdressing, I didn't know it , I don't think that it's a fake
hairdressing? I have one of these and it looks like any other 4/8 straight razor. It's stainless (INOX) so takes a little more time to hone, but otherwise it's a totally traditional straight in the 4/8 size. Not especially luxurious or exotic, and likely not what filarmonica collectors are hunting for, but a very nice little straight razor.
Is there some information on this razor being intended for hair-dressing?
I have a #13 that is stainless, I got it from JimR about a year ago.
Hi , I new ST8 user and I went on Ebay and won this one: 160504518571.
Can some of you tell if this a pre Filarmonica Monsserat, or is a different razor? Many thanks Livio
Its not pre it is Monserrat
Thank you for fast response, so is made in Spain, same one who made Filarmonicas. They are comparable with Filas , quality wise? Is same steel like Filas? What are your toughs, keep it original or send it to be refurbished? So is belong to Filys forum or not?
Many thanks
Liviu
It looks nice to me. I would just hone it to a nice edge and shave with it every day if were mine. Beyond that its up to you. I don't see anything thats says Fillarmonica so its beyond my knowledge but I have no doubt it'll shave well.
Thank you again, I just wanna know if older Monserrat razor can compare in any way with Filarmonicas? Have you seen them around or are pretty rare?I will send this razor to LarryAndro to be honed and will post my toughts after. Many thanks
Livio
I am sure it can. I used to think Filarmonica were the best razor you buy until I obtained one. Yes they are a great razor, but so are many others, so my answer is "Yes". I don't see why Larry can't put an edge on it that you will be very happy with. Congratulations on your new razor.
Thank you very much,I will let you know how good shave in couple of days. How I can upload some pictures on this forum?
Many thanks
Livio
When you click post reply there is a paperclip at the top of the box. Click it and upload from your computer
Thank you for the input, I will post pictures and my shaving experience when it will be back from honing, LarryAndro will make this razor better than a Fila for sure. What is nice about this razor , is very well balanced, is very heavy, and the blade is kind of different steel from other blades I have.It say 1936 on the tang.
Many thanks
Livio
Here's my Fili. A #13 Doble Temple. What a great razor these are.
