Hi guys... I recently bought a Filarmonica, which appears to be of later production and does not mention Jose Monserrat Pau on the shank. I have not shaved with it yet, so I can't comment on the performance of the blade, but the scales are sooooo cheap. They are very thin and plastic is not sturdy buth rather flimsy and bends easily. Is it only my razor or Filarmonicas in general are notorious for cheap scales?

so I'm not the only one to dislike them? Hope the steel part lives up to all the hype surrounding Fillies.

I think most all shavers love them (the earley blades) when the company was viable and took great pride in the work they did,
Towards the end they even cheapend the friggin boxes they came in.
The scales became crap and the jimping was dreadfull.
People still buy this stuff pureley on Name recgognition (SP) just like they spend thousands on watches with no heart but a revered name,JMO

I only have two, and I personally would say there is a noticeable difference in the quality and finish of the razors, Jose Monserrat Pou and post Jose Monserrat Pou, the quality control is certainly not as good and just judging by the few I've restored and honed I would definitely opt for the earlier models with the masters name on, but on saying this, even the later models shave really well. here's my two a very early Pre 1950s and post 1970s, I own both but I certainly know which one I would give up in a hostage negotiation for my Mother.

    Jamie.

Filarmonica Especial Jose Monserrat Pou 8/8
