Thanked: 2Can anyone help me with approximate dates of production for this razor. Just got it... seems to be a NOS... is this one of the 'better' ones?

Thanked: 2Yeah, it's one of the good ones. Pre 1950, as you said.
But it isn't NOS: scales are much newer than the blade, as well as the box.
Box matches scales, but not the blade.Last edited by ErreHache; 08-05-2013 at 01:58 PM.

Thanked: 2Cos I own a good bunch of them
These scales doesn't match a pre 1950 blade. I'm not meaning they're a fake, of course. They're real Fialrmonica scales but weren't used until 60's. Pre 1950 scales were usualy plain, or with a brass lyre logo.
With no doubt, those NOS Fillis you saw hadn't curved characters on the tang, had they?

Thanked: 2Besides, if you check the listing photos in the bay, you'll see a clearly repinned pivot.

Thanked: 2591Why are they supposed to be pre 1950? It is certainly possible that there was stock ground and finished ready for scales that were put at a later period.
If you are referring to styles of the lettering and such, you may be right, I do not know the history, but I can tell blade that has never been honed from one that has, and that is what I think matters in the discussion of NOS vs not, the scales can be anything they want to be , they do not do the shaving. My personal opinion of course.Last edited by mainaman; 08-05-2013 at 03:23 PM.
