The carving could first have been written on or carboned on then carved after, that would make it easier to be neat.

Acquired these two with the intention of selling them. After testing them out I was blown away. Weighty with a superbly thin hollow grind, a great combination for mowing a tough beard and wanting a very close shave. Alas, they are now part of the permanent collection.

My wife took the pics for me, she's much more savvy with the iPhone, and she said it looked like someone did it by hand as well, so guess that's confirmed. So, it was either owner by a boxer, a local counsel person, a member of a musical band, or someone else.....well, that was fun, a mystery, at least for me, solved.

As far as I now, it wasn't uncommon for (more or less) rich men to keep their own straight at the barbershop to be shaved with it. Carving his name could be the easiest way to distinguish the razor

I googled a bullfighter called Miguel García as well . Sadly, as said before, García is the most common surname in Spain.
I read somewhere that famous people (you know, boxers, bullfighters, actors, etc..) used to get their straights tunned with special scales having silver or mother-of-pearl inlays. Just for the show or as a status symbol. Maybe Mr.García was rich enough to get his own razor, but not famous enough to get it tunned.

I know some retailers and grinders (?, "vaciadores" in spanish) etched his name on the blade as a way of tracking the razor or hone job for guarantee issues. In fact I own a couple of these razors.
But I mean independent professionals, not Filarmonica workers.

No Mystery here,The owner of the Razor just put his name on the scales.
Have re-scaled maybe 20 Palmeras (all spanish Razors) maybe 30% had scales engraved with a name or numbers.
Maybe a Spanish thing,Dunno.

Just arrived in the mail, one of two Filarmonica 8/8 Novodur's I've managed to grab over the last couple of weeks.

This one came from France, and was at a bargain price, and noticed as well, the Novodur is a 3-pin, which I've always been fond of.
