Doc you have already seen mine its nearly identical to yours. It cleaned up well after this pic was taken. Its a full hollow and my easyest to sharpen of all my razors.

    Default S.S. St. Louis?

Anybody know the story behind the S.S. St. Louis blades one sees from time to time. I have one, and it's a great shaver.

I've been able to determine that the S.S. St. Louis in question is not the one that was the subject of movie, Voyage of the Damned. This one was a mid-sized (11,000+-ton) steamship that did the New York to Southampton or New York to Liverpool run from 1895 to 1918, when it was sold to the military. That made it an approximate contemporary of the S.S. Carpathia, which figured in the Titanic rescue.

There's a picture of her on this page: http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_ship.asp?sh=stlou

Why there should be a number of Boker blades with the ship engraved on them is my question. Was it an advertising stunt for American Lines? Part of a larger series of steamship blades (in which case, why don't you see other ships on Boker blades)? Were they supplied in the First Class cabins?

    Just a question.

Oh, and I'm new. Nice to meet all of you.
