Yeah Gugi you are probably correct but I cant find a clear answer to warrant vs cypher or initials. there cool anyway

Here is my latest set, which seems to fit most appropriately in this club.

A 4 day Thomas Turner set in pretty good condition. Unfortunately, during clean up work Number 4 developed a crack near the heel Unusable and unsalvageable I am afraid. However, I will keep it in the set anyway - it would look strange with only 3 razors.

There's a local connection with these as well. The set was purchased from Carl Zoeller & Co. who as far as I can tell were Brisbane - based importers of surgical and veterinary equipment, artificial limbs etc., and obviously razors. The inscription on the box says they were presented to the lucky owner in 1906, so I Imagine the manufacture date of these would be close to that time.

If any of the Aussies know what B.R.C. stands for, I'd be interested to know. So far I have come up with Brisbane Racing Club or Brisbane Rowing Club, but they are just guesses. A quick google search comes up with H. J. Gray, the founder of Gray - Nicolls of cricket bat fame. He was also a world racket champion. Wouldn't it be awesome if this H.J. Gray was that H.J. Gray, and that these were actually presented to him from the Brisbane Rackets Club? Long shot, but the timing is kind of right....

Just got a Thomas Turner M&D (Militia and Defense) Canada stamped "cutlers to his majesty Sheffield" I am guessing it was made during the reign of King George V as the Militia and Defense Canada department created in 1906 ceased to exist in 1922. Oddly enough it is only stamped Sheffield with the England missing on a razor destined for sale/issue in Canada. That is considering it was a post 1891 made razor.

Bob very interesting razor,im thinking that your razor is possibly made before 1891, as there was another M & D before the one you mentioned.

It is the same Department of Militia and Defense, I should have checked more than one source like this one ARCHIVED - Militia and Defence - Canadian Documents Gallery - The Canadian State - Library and Archives Canada which states 1868 as the date created. You also could add that it may have been King Edward VII that gave them the royal warrant. That makes the possible time frame 1901 to 1922/23 as thsoe were the only two kings on the British throne during the period the department was in operation. Still post 1890/91 for production. Sorry not very good at researching thing.

You know, it's the British we are talking about here. There'll be a list, a comprehensive list of every Royal Warrant holder from the beginning of time until now. No doubt in my mind. If you can find that list, you can then just narrow it down to razors makers quite easily I imagine.

I figured that much, looked through a number of websites but didn't find an archive yet. I'll keep searching tonight. It's gotta be there! All I found are the current royal warrant holders.

I searched and searched and could not find the archive. Well keep searching. In the meantime I've written to the Highgrove Royal Warrant Holders Association and I'll find a couple other associations and clubs and committees and send them the same email!!! Hah!
