I bought two of them and my experience has been very positive. Fine careful tweaking on a finisher and a table top un-pasted strop improves them. a couple stokes at a time. The few strokes so there is no goof that will ruin the edge.

Hello. I've been out of the straight game for 10 years so I'm learning this again from the start pretty much but so far I feel its a lot more maneuverable than my dovo, I like that its a solid peice of steel. I can get a better grip and leverage on it, and its easier for me to guide it where I want it pretty much. So I'm liking it. Also the honing seems to be more straight forward than a regular folder. I got a 50mm one, but now when I have it I think I should have gone with a 45mm instead since it would be even more maneuverable. But hey I'm not complaining.
This will be my only razor in use and I intend to get good with it. I'm not a razor collector by any means but I like quality stuff. And this one was high quality if you ask me. Buy once cry once. :)
I got this King Pelican which is also a Kamisori asymmetrical grind. It is a 5/8" with a 2" blade. It sharpened up very easily and I will use it tomorrow but I am sure it will be a great shave. I'm happy to have a "Kamisori" type grind in a folding handle.
I just bought a Japanese KIYA ICHOGAKE JAPANESE KAMISORI STRAIGHT RAZOR
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...59482fdf72.jpg
It seems that this is made of what is referred to as "Yellow Paper Steel"
I have done a cursory review online and it seems that there are different grades of steel in Japanese razors; Yellow Paper, White Paper & Blue Paper...can somebody explain what these mean and which is the best? Is yellow paper steel suitable for shaving? Or should I return in favor of the white paper steel?
One explanation can be found here. https://www.hidatool.com/image/data/...el%20Chart.pdf

Very nice, I should buy more raffles...
I'm not too fussed about the first parker you posted - it is a nice razor at a decent pricepoint on eBay, but not that exciting. Second razor is lovely - covered tang in NOS looking condition :beer2:
Very nice Roberto I saw that raffle on the Facebook raffle group I think I should enter a couple of those raffles in the future.
Can't win if you don't try.

This little lady came in the post today.
NOS Hayashi Diamond.
Unlike the Tanifuji it wasn't ready to go after a quick strop. However, bevel set to strop in about 20-25 mins and shaves like a dream. Obviously very happy:o
Mark that's a difficult razor to get hold of I have the same razor quarter hollow 6/8 great shavers here's mine.

A superb collection Jamie.
A definite case JRAD :)
Phrank, is that from the New York seller? If so, I got one of the smiling Iwasaki's from him a while back. The tang has the marking painted on, but they were under a layer of patina/tarnish, so I got it for $50 because the seller couldn't read the markings :) Shaves awesomely!! Just ordered a NOS Cherub and a Hasegawa from him tonight, too :) I gotta get my Japanese razors cleaned up and a pic taken one of these days! They are quickly becoming my Go To razors!
These arrived today. I can't stop playing with them. Like miniature katana! :dropjaw:

I've had a lot of help from Arsenico in the Kanji help thread and he's identified the one in the second picture. The group of four kanji at the top says something like "very special guarantee", and the isolated pair below say "tamahagane". The two kanji at the top of the man column of writing is "special quality" or something like that, followed by the four "copyright" kanji arranged in a square, and then the maker Yamato Shin or Yamato Gokoro.
We're still working on IDing the one in the first picture, but it also has the tamahagane kanji, this time at the very top in a group of four kanji. The last kanji in the maker's name looks like "maru" so it could be a Yahatamaru but we're still working it*.
*Arsenico is still working on it. :)
FEON, still need to clean up the blade, but she shaves very well!

Iwasaki and Ribbon Super G. Not the prettiest, but they shave very well!
