Thanked: 11howdydave, I too started with a 5/8 best quality and then got a 6/8 Dovo Flowing. Similar profile and also shoulderless like the Bismarck. I love it, one of my favorite razors.

Does the gold plate on the Bismark wear off with stropping and honing?

Ahhh... Now I remember.
Lynn said something about electricians tape on his DVD!
(In my past experience, electricians tape leaves an awful gunk behind when you take it off.)
My Best Quality 5/8" has been so forgiving, I'm even starting to lean toward a Best Quality 6/8" for my next one.Last edited by howdydave; 06-14-2016 at 04:18 AM.

Thanked: 11If you get the good 3M tape you shouldn't have to worry about gunk. I use it on the spine when honing and cover the etching on the blade when using CrOx on the paddle strop to touch up. Keeps me from having to clean the CrOx from the etch. No gunk left behind.

Thanked: 11I've not used the diamond spray, but would cover the etching or gold wash if I did.
