The 55 is an extra hollow grind.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure."

I just began straight razor shaving a month ago. I have a Dovo Bismarck as a trade fro a DE razor that shaved a bit rough until I had it re-honed by Glen Mercurio. I still have an easier shave with the Dovo Best Quality. I have 2 used Dovos coming this week, the En Vogue and the Master's. I am thinking about buying a used Prima Klang, but am on the fence about it.
I have several vintage German, American and British straights, but really love that inexpensive Dovo Best Quality.

Thanked: 2Dovo Digs
I have two Dovos in my arsenal. They take a nice edge and are consistent shavers. I personally feel their quality is much better than the new Bokers. [IMG]http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/04/9aryqysy.

Hello fellow "Dovophiles"! Just checking in! The only two real straight razors I have are a Dovo 5/8 Astral with ebony scales and a 6/8 Bismarck with pearlex scales.

My humble contribution. a 5/8" BQ I got off of Amazon (hey I was a nOOB & didn't know any better!!) After sending it out to a member to be honed, it shaves wonderfully!

Thanked: 3Dovo Digs
New to the forum and thinking about buying my first straight razor, the Dovo best quality 5/8 from Vintage Blades. The name of the website IMO is misleading to me. Are the products they sell new or used? I apologize for asking such a question but any answer would suffice. Also, what kind of leather strop/size/brand do you recommend for a beginner like me? Thanks in advance!

Thanked: 1When I started dropping big hints for last years christmas presents, I made sure to give the missus a couple of respected brands that I had seen discussed on SRP (before I registered as a member!). When I opened my gift, I was excited to see that she'd purchased a Dovo and a bunch of other stuff I'd need. Then when I saw the model... Best Quality... My heart sank. Over here, if a company stamps words like Best Quality onto their products, it is usually synonymous with "cheap materials, poor design, replace in a week".
I've been shaving with it for over a month now, haven't looked back. I really need it honed soon though!
