    thickness doesn't mean anything, I have razors with original ivory scales that are as thick as any regular plastic scales. thick ivory scales are rare because ivory is strong enough for very thin scales that are not possible in other materials, and it is also expensive.

    I have a Robert Williams ivory-scaled razor and the ivory is as thick as any horn I own Has a scrimshaw of Marilyn Monroe to boot. Done by his wife. Great razor

    Something I have never understood,I have sold alot if Ivory to some of the finest custom makers in the Buis.
    They make them real thick,not dissin, just an observation.
