Thanked: 1Ivory scales?
Does anyone have information on this razor? It hones up and shaves better than any other one I've had. I'm wondering if the scales might be real ivory. I did the test with the pin and it did not leave any mark. It has a rings similar to what you would find in wood under the right light. Any other tests I can do? Thanks guys

All of the ivory scales I have seen are really thin and have collarless pins, but that doesn't mean those aren't. I am not that familiar with ivory to say for sure, but I'm sure someone else will be along that knows more. The wedge looks almost translucent. Either way whatever it is I like the looks of it.

I say bone, but see ivory lines in pic 2, I think. Too thick for most ivory. Pictures down the scales? Different angles?

I rest my case.

IIRC - if you take a good photograph of Ivory, the pic tends to turn out rather pink due to the tones in the Ivory? I'd say bone....IMO.

Yup, bone IMHO. Not half bad to have bone scales. I'd prefer them to celluloid.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
