    Found them thanks.

I just hope mine eventually changes color to be like all the others I've seen pictured cause so far it's white pretty much.

How does the wrapping fate with water or moisture underneath? I think that's the main reason people take them off

    Nice!
No earlier then 2 hours ago, I picked mine up from the post office. I got the Iwasaki 50mm without the wrapping.

I'm sure this is going to be a fun blade to use!

    Cheers.

My upcoming post was actually gonna be about whether should keep or remove it? I have a feeling I either like it without, or perhaps different material.
Mine came bare. I've been thinking of putting a wrap on it just to increase the grip size. It's like using a pen with too small of a grip. But I like it without it for the whole moisture issue.

I copied one of Charlie's ideas from way back on a couple of my other Kamisori, he used a wire wrap and sealed it with a thinned coating of Epoxy on a few of his customs..

My Iwasaki still has the Rattan wrap and I am extra careful about drying it after use

I went with plasti-dip to bulk out the handle of an off-off-off-brand kamisori (a Takami, avoid these like the plague) and the results were mixed. Yes, the handle has plenty of bulk and is not slippery. But after a year, the durability of the plasti-dip alone is questionable. So it's a good route if you want bulk and waterproofing but are also planning to do an outer wrap with something like a decorative cord.

Have fun for the both of us then... I don't plan on using it for quite some time. I got it new, but as far as I know, it's not shave ready and I want to do that myself rather than sending it out. Unfortunately, due to major lack of time these past 6 months, I'm still at the "learn to set a bevel" stage of honing (so far all I've done is turn a half-hollow into a quarter-hollow, I might have a near-wedge when I'm done with it... ). I bought the razor now because it was in stock and had a 10% off coupon as well as really cheap shipping.

    Cheers.

Tamahagane Iwasakis? Only rarely available. I grabbed mine when Takeshi had them in stock, and there's no telling when or if any more will be made. Although Iwasaki has allegedly transitioned his operation exclusively to razors, there just isn't a lot of tamahagane drifting around.

Maybe give it a try. I asked SRD about this and they said they don't hone them because they are honed from the maker (I believe they do this with all customs). Worth a shot at least.

Thanks for the heads up! I might just do that!
