Really? I read in a couple of threads where people said the steel was too soft.

Was that an opinion or did they somehow test the steel ?
Factory claims 57-58 HRC which is softer than an Iwasaki at about 66HRC but 57 is not soft. The edges seem to last like any other razor.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I forget the exact analogy used. It was something about a saw vs other tools.

I have a 6/8 G&F, I learned how to straight shave with is as it was my first straight razor. I like the razor, and have had no problems with it, although it's been sent to Lynn for honing a couple of times, and I'm pretty sure he hates it! Apparently it's difficult to hone, and does not hold an edge well. I hate to do it to the poor guy, but when I send it to him, it always comes back in perfect shape. I guess that's why I like the razor, if I honed it myself I probably would have got rid of it by now!

Ok, I've done some reading on these on other forums. Some say that the spine is a bit thicker than on other razors. I wonder if this is true. I wouldn't mind comparing one of these with a factory edge vs the factory edges of other brands, such as Dovo, Boker, or TI.
