When ever I take on an apprentice to help them learn this age old art the first thing that I tell them is that Family Comes First! If the family needs something, razors, hones, strops, soaps etc can wait!

I dropped one apprentice because he didn't listen! I'd financed a razor for him on the condition that he could pay me back when he could and how much he could. I then found that he was buying other shaving gear and not paying me back!

What broke the camels back was when he wrote asking if I knew anything about how to go about using a Debt Reduction Offer.

If you have sufficient funds for the family fine! If not, step back and think about what's really important to you in life. Your family or another razor/strop etc.

Oh!! And NEVER EVER LIE TO THE WIFE or GIRLFRIEND. If you can't have trust between each other then you don't have anything!

    I'll get off of my

I took that chip into consideration but I was also thinking about the fact that it's an FBO and not just a run of the mill FBU. More exclusivity.

Correct, the needs of the family come first. I have the ability to pay for everything that I purchase but I am a cheap bastard and I would have preferred to pay much less for it than what I did. I can't lie to my wife, never could, it's just not in me. If I did lie to her, I would feel so guilty. Don't get me wrong, I can lie with the best but just not to her. My girlfriend on the other hand....

I had hoped that it would have gone for a lot more than it did. As it ended up, it came in $2.37 shy of my max bid. I figured that it would go for some crazy amount instead of settling in at the final price. My wife and I determined a long time ago that whoever left had to take the children so that has been the big deterrent for divorce.

Nice razor stik. I gave up on RAD ages ago. I was always a minimalist though, never ever was going to ever need more than two razors and I still ended up with something just a tad under a fortnight's set.

LOL - when I bid, I may place a bid at the beginning, just to probe, but after that, I usually bid once and only once, because the only bid the counts, is the winning one. In the case of your W&B razor, I was prepared to go, then found a 9/8 W&B FBU with 3 minutes left, on eBay from basically an hour away from me, for $210.00 plus $3.50 for shipping, so that took me out of the game.

Then, just to switch things up, managed to grab this nice little 11/16 Joseph Elliot, hoping the scales are tortoise?

    Gentlemen,
The dearly beloved shuffles into the shave den, stops at the counter and says, "They're growing like rabbits," while other times she wonders what happened to some of the razor that were there last month. Might as well tell her everything.
