My new Friodur arrived today! (pics)
Thanks to Cudarunner for locating this (and if you need someone to do some awesome honing, info below). I believe this was listed as a 7/8, but it looks much closer to an 8/8. It's HUGE.
Cudarunner is a great guy for honing. I'm in DC and he's across the country in Washington state, but I can still send him my razors and get them back working awesome within a very short period of time. If you need honing done, I would encourage you to check with him. He's also great for helping to locate razors if there's something in particular you're looking for.

This looks like one of the "newer" Friodurs. Mine are the "older" version. But if yours is anything like mine, you're in for a treat. They are one of the most under-hyped razors out there. While the Filarmonicas and Double Ducks are commanding the big bucks, Friodurs are available at much lower prices. And they hone up and shave every bit as nice as the others as far as I'm concerned. Congrats.

I have two of the new grind on old blank 7/8 razors, a square point with wood scales and a Spanish point with G-10 silver twill scales. I also have a 7/8 round point 17 1/2 with factory scales. All shave well, are easy to maintain, and retain their shave ready edge well.

Glad to see you finally got the big size razor you've been pursuing. Should shave slick as a whistle.

Just finished first shave... awesome. Didn't even strop, just pulled out of the mail from Cudarunner, lathered up some Truefitt cream and it shaves perfect!

Be careful about the big blades....once you're hooked on them, it's hard to go back! Last time I used a 5/8, it felt like a toy in my hand, was hard to believe I used to think it was a huge straight razor. Beautiful blade and congratulations.
The T&H is awesome stuff, I've used a few, including the Ultimate, but the Trafalgar and 1805 so far are big favorites.
Have you tried any of the DR Harris yet? Another awesome soap, the Windsor is fantastic. Same with the Penhaligon's, great stuff...but now we're into soap acquisition disorder, one that I never thought I had or would get, until my wife pointed out that I now had a lot more soaps than her.....
