    Default Lautrejung and Sohn info

Trying to find info on a razor that belonged to my grandfather that was given to me along with some of his safety razors. Markings on the razor include Lauterjung and Sohn and the Puma emblem on one side of the tang and Puma with the number 20 on the other. Scales appear to be either ivory or bone/horn. On the box both Soligen-S and Sheffield. Assuming this means made in Solingen using steel from Sheffield. Writing on the box appears to be German, have read somewhere that at one time this company used English writing on boxes for razors imported to the US. That article did not specify if at any time exported production included German print on the boxes. My grandfather did serve in WWI and if I remember correctly spent some of his time post war in Germany.

What I am wanting to know is could this razor have come from Germany (WWI era) or could it have been purchased in the US pre WWI era? Basically, approximately when could this razor have been produced/purchased. Have not been able to find much info on this razor myself, would appreciate any info anyone can give me on this razor.

In my Eyes it could be a Puma for the german market as the german "Sohn" is used instead of Son but im sure that there was no consistent tang design/marking for those razors that had been exported.
What stand there up of Solingen-S on the Box? Couldnt read it but it seems french (maybe an indicator for a french export, but as the rhineland and solingen had been french occupied after WW1 a couple of razors had been made for france as part of the reparation arrangements).

Should have included a better picture of box. Above Solingen-S reads Premiata fabbrica do rasoi.

Obviously that is an oldie. I don't recall seeing a Puma mark like that, framed out with the rectangle around it. I've got a couple from before WWII marked 'Kayser Ellison Best Sheffield Silver Steel' on the mark side, with Lauterjung and Sohn, and the Puma head in a diamond on the pile side, Your scales look like either horn or bone in the photo. The razors I posted photos of are probably rescaled.

Thanks for the quick replies. Anyone know what the number on the tang represents?

Most of the companies had many styles, round points, square points, and so on. The numbers were model numbers for the specific style/size razor.

Here's one I restored a little while back a Puma with Sheffield steel.

Puma Kayser & Ellison Lauterjung & Sohn solingen.

This beautiful blade was given to me by the extremely kind Ollie AKA Rev-O from over on the UK shaving TSR, It's an early Puma made from the best Sheffield silver steel a full hollow 13/16 round point the original scales were cracked at the pivot and in pretty poor state, well lucky enough I had a beautiful vintage set in a lovely Ivory colour off a scrapped 7/8 they were of a far better quality and fit for a blade of this standing, well during the mock set up I could instantly tell it looked has if the scales and blade had been waiting for each other they looked so perfect I made a blood red wedge and matching blood red spacer and a three pin set up has these scales came without the middle pin so this was added, well the razor has been fully restored and honed and ready for her first outing I hope you like the razor and the restore. PS I forgot to add I will be restoring the lovely little Oak box the razor came with, it looks like it was one of a pair.
