GREAT just what I wanted to hear is I get to go to ER again, since cuda is getting two of mine very soon. Is it to late to go back to electric?

I've got a 4/8 Inox that I just can't get a good edge on.... but then, I'm a newb with honing.... I'm assuming I haven't figured it out yet, but I can't say I'm a fan of the size either... I've got to look for a larger Friodur to play with

I've got a 6/8 NOS Friodur - right now it's my favorite razor - very easy to hone and stays sharp for ages...

So I've heard the term "NOS" a few times now... what is that?

It means New Old Stock. Just like the military, shaving has it's own set of acronyms and it takes a bit to get used to.
I puzzled over MWF for the longest time.

They hone up and shave just fine - nothing awful, nothing special - but I find the grind job and finish rather rough and as such, aesthetically off-putting. I like the looks of older grind Friodurs better, myself.

I have two of the razors ground from old blanks, a 7/8 Spanish point and 7/8 square point. I also have a 7/8 from Henckels. They can be destinguished easily. The razors from Henckels are usually in factory scales that have the twins logo and say Friodur. The 7/8 blades are stamped with 17 (square) or 17 1/2 (round point) on either the monkey tail or shank. The old blank grinds are usually in scales that do not have the logo and Friodur labeling and the blades are unnumbered. The factory ground blades have a deeper hollow grind.

Mine all shave and strop well, but I prefer the factory 7/8 razor. I also have 4/8, 5/8, and 6/8 Friodurs. They are all good, if in good condition and shave ready. Mine maintain easily.

I have three Friodurs, all factory grinds. And all of them are outstanding razors. They hone and shave beautifully and hold their edge a long time. But then again, I have two carbon Henkels and they are magnificent razors as well. Any new person would be wise to take advantage of these undervalued razors while they are still around.
