Thank you for taking the time to do this, nice site.:chapeau
Arsenico hasn't been on this thread since May, so I thought I'd help out. It says:
Ishikawa, Unit 2, #28
Ishikawa is a last name. I have no clue what the unit and number stand for. My first guess was that it's some military division, but my Google searches didn't come up with anything helpful.
@rami: the style of writing is quite unusual. I can't make out what the characters are.
@Benjisco: I can't make out the characters since they've worn down too much. :(
Vileru your reading is perfect!
2 unit and n.28 (2組 28番) is a common way to identify a student in a school.
So it's class n. 2 and seat n.28. It might be a school for barbering, wher mr. Ishikawa used to study! :) I remember I helped another gentleman with a similar reading... Maybe it was a stone, sorry I don't remember exactly..
Hope this helps
I would've never guessed that, especially 玉. To me, 林 looked like 本+小, which is meaningless. 玉林 is a very poetic name, though. I'd translate it to something like "Jade Forest" in English.
Anyway, if you work under similar conditions to most people in Tokyo, I can understand why you've had some difficult months. Fortunately, there are two readily available solutions: onsen and nomihodai.
