I will work on close up pics tonight. Shave last night was very nice. I need to work on my shaving maneuvers with a kamisori though. As this was my first shave with one. I find it easier for something's and harder for others. No issues though. I really liked the feel of it in my hand while shaving.

    Great! Nice to hear!

Exactly my idea, some things are easier, other things more difficult, but you'll get the hang of it!
I always like my kamisori shaves very much!

I tried my best using phone and loop to take close ups.

Well, very nice effort taking those pics! Thanks!

I'm going to try my best to figure it out
It will take some time though, so in a couple of days I just maybe know a bit more,
if Arsenico hasn't figured it out in the meanwhile of course!

I hope he can, cause it really looks like a difficult one!

Thanks Jethro. I believe the forth one down is trade mark. It looks like the same I see on other blades from my searching. That is about all I can find though.

Indeed, as I mentioned in post #258, it is 登録商標 = Tōroku shōhyō = Registered trademark
Good that you recognised those kanji! Now, hopefully we'll find the rest

    I searched a lot,
and found little, maybe they are hentaigana (obsolete kanji)

    持級証 = Ji-kyū-shō = "Certificate of grade"
    (級 = Name: 1 Orihi 3t.jpg.png
Views: 428
Size: 12.9 KB )

登録商標 = Tōroku shōhyō = Registered trademark

    Then, possibly:
    Name: 1 Orihi 3k.jpg
Views: 260
Size: 9.7 KBName: 1 Orihi 3l.jpg
Views: 267
Size: 24.4 KBName: 1 Orihi 3m.jpg
Views: 266
Size: 7.2 KB

    Name: 1 mi.png
Views: 267
Size: 1.1 KB = Mi
    Name: 1 so.png
Views: 266
Size: 1.1 KB = So
    > modern version = みそ
    > みその 【三曾野】= Misono (Family or surname)

    And then:

    - Name: 1 mu.png
Views: 277
Size: 1.8 KB > modern kanji = む(mu) or 舞(mai)
    - Name: 1 yo.png
Views: 288
Size: 1.7 KB = よ(yo) or 代(dai)
    - 禄? (roku) or 祿? or 退? (shisa)
    - Name: 1 su.png
Views: 271
Size: 2.8 KB or Name: 1 Su2.png
Views: 261
Size: 12.5 KB =す(su) or 寿 / 壽(Kotobuki)
    (or Name: 1 zu.png
Views: 416
Size: 8.6 KB = ず = zu)

That would be then (possibly): Muyo (Roku)zu

    Or something like that...

Pretty useless I'm afraid, besides that it could be really old kanji and thus a really old Orihi (kamisori)
    which we already knew ...

Sorry, I'm afraid I can't help much more...

Thanks Jethro. It is more than I could figure out myself. Very interesting though. I am glad it is a wonderful shaver. Someone knew what they were doing when they made it.

    You're welcome, Tom!

I'm sure that it was made excellently, and shaves excellent as well, which is of course most important of all!

Fikira I am really impressed by your work and effort, really.
    Hentaigana...yes it could be...
This style of writing sometimes can be seen on stamps, the square ones in red usually.
I am sure you've seen them on some Inoue Tosuke papers.
The point is that it is really hard to figure it out.
The best thing I can do is to show this to some of my japanese friends and see...
I am afraid it won't help a lot though
