Hell yeah! If an older German razor has that 'Alto, cast steel' ring to it, it is a keeper! Love 'em!
Germans are known for going over the top. Most of the old German blades I have messed with were hard, through and through. Can do lots with them. JMO

Would my Henckels #14 by G Hoppe be a carbon or stainless steel blade? Sheesh there are a lot of different flavours of this razor....sweet!

Funny, the second #66 I pictured looked a lot like yours as I began, except it had been straight-honed. I expect they both started out looking more like my 3rd example. Anyway, I went out to the spinning fine stone to give a bit of smile to a straight-honed old blade, as usual, and proceeded to overdo the top, compensated on the heel. Oh MY! What did I do? Some compounds and a dremel, etc. It has shaved WONDERFULLY for years. A smiling accident which turned out awesome.
Evidence of hardness, through and through! Love this blade, scales are from an old Puma.
I always smile as it comes up!

That would be carbon. Pretty positive.

Gorgeous, gorgeous Henckels all. Love the way that smiler turned out Tom.
Another razor I've been watching for. ..
Have a Henckel kitchen knife from my dad that's still my favorite despite what a pita to sharpen it is. Hard hard steel.
    Cheers.
