Thanked: 3795As I made such a claim to the contrary, and backed it up with video of the edge, I will make this offer...
Pick anyone in the US that you would trust to evaluate the edge of my factory honed Revisor razor and I will send it to that person to try it out. The only thing I have ever done with that razor was to examine it under a microscope. I have not shaved, stropped, wiped, or in any way touched that razor's edge. It is in exactly in the same condition as I received it from the factory.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I've yet to see a Revisor that doesn't shave out of the box.
Couple of observations: "factory edge" is indicative of a completely wrong idea of how these razors are made. In the US, they would have ARTISAN!!!!! all over them. There is no factory, just a Kotten. And: "edge refinement" is a rather long shot from "does not shave". And yes, "honemeister" edges aren't exactly popular over here, just like Feather DE blades. "Scary sharp" is something one has to love, or hate. Most people here don't love edges off high grit synthetics.

Thanked: 45Most people don't like edges off of high-grit synths? Next you are going to tell me UFOs have landed in Nevada and the Zombie apocalypse has begun in Atlanta because you saw it on TV.
I am pretty sure, myself excluded for the sake of your arguments, that there is a pretty good reason the Naniwa 12k is perhaps the single most recommended high-grit synthetic for touch-ups and edge refinement across just about every razor forum....not that there are dozens of videos with very well regarded honers the world over featuring it...but what do they know.
I am unsure exactly what your agenda happens to be, or for that matter why, but you can't discount so many experiences contrary to your personal findings. Your convictions are yours and I can't help but give you some credit for sticking to them....but hey....Donald Trump thinks he can deport 11 million immigrants in the US and he seems to be sticking to that despite its impossibility...so anything is game I suppose.

I bough a Boker silversteel 6/8 razor from Lynn 18 months ago - use it every other week worst case - it has not seen a stone just linen and leather - I think he does all of the honing of new razors and I get a wonderful shave every time

but thanks for trolling. Back to SRD edges, many of which are completed on high grit synthetics....

I believe the naniwa 12k was first popularized on this forum. On a side note, back when it was the freshly appointed "hone du jour" some mentioned how it can make their edges chippy and that the 10K was preferred.
I do occasionally take a peak on the european forums, mostly the French ones, and I am of the impression that naturals and pastes still dominate there.
