    Default W.R. Case Razor Info?

Hello everyone. I am new here and to straight razors. I have collected Case XX knives for a good while now and I also collect autographs from western movie stars over the years.

The other day while browsing eBay I came across a listing that combined the two perfectly and on an impulse I hit the buy it now. Some of you may have seen the listing but it was for a W.R. Case Straight Razor that was owned by one of the men who played the Lone Ranger, John Hart. It also came with an autograph on an old check.

I already have the long starting Lone Ranger, Clayton Moore's Autograph and I have been wanting to get into straight razors also so this being a Case XX razor just tied it all together perfectly.

I am very pleased with my purchase.

I know how to date the Case XX knives but I have not been able to find much out there on the Straight Razors. Is there a place to search for info on the straight razors?

I would appreciate any feedback and info on the razor.

On the tang it says: Registered No. 023 Warranted for life. On the other side it says W.R. Case & Sons Bradford, PA.

This is the first of what I think will be plenty razors to come. They just bring back so many memories of me watching my Great Grandfather shave with one and the smells that came along with it. I have ordered me several soaps and aftershaves and plan to find a good shaving razor and other items also and try my hand at shaving with them.

I see quite a few of these. Hart was a short time fill in for Moore. You can get some info on strazors.com about case.

Correct. One season of 52 episodes along with a couple stand alone movies if I remember right.

I will check out that site. Thanks.

Welcome to SRP. I have a small collection of Case knives as well. Mostly 61048 & 62048, from tested up into the USAs, plus some odds and ends, a XX stag canoe, and stag USA trapper, bone XX toenail. Unfortunately Case didn't date their razors. They did change stampings to some extent. There are Case Bros Little Valley, Springville, Kane, PA, and the WR Case & Sons Bradford. The latter being the most common. They made real good razors, just as they did pocket knives.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Some nice knives you got there I'm sure. I like so many different patterns. I'm pretty happy to have this one in my collection. I can tell that is will be the first of plenty more to come. I just think the old razors are neat.

Welcome to SRP and that is quit a nice find. I couldn't help you with the date all I can say is that they are fine razors and add that you will want to have it pro honed before you attempt to use it. If you are thinking that you can sharpen knives so why not razors, I will tell you that there is a BIG difference. You can find a listing of members in your area that can help you with the honing as well as teach you the proper strop technique and how to map your face. SRP is full of information and this is a good place to start Beginner's guide to straight razor shaving - Straight Razor Place Library

Thanks for the heads up. I would never attempt to hone this myself. I know my own limitations and I would not be comfortable trying it yet, esp on this razor.
I have been looking over the Beginner's guide and over the past month or so I have watched countless videos on the subject along with other write ups.
I will look for the list of members who may be near me.

Be aware that SR's breed like rabbits along with all the detritus associated with wet shaving.

I can already see that. I kinda figured they would multiply like my Case XX knife collection has done.
