But where is the evidence that the knots that TGN sell come from sweatshops and child labour?
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

Im hoping so. I'll be sure to share my experience with this when it returns.
Im not sure how true this also is but he has mentioned that blades can be damaged by some machining in restoration or honing by people not following the process by hand.
Im also hoping that my DD isnt scuppered should this be the case..it does look to have been slung at a machine of some type at some point in its life by all the feint uniform marks on the blade.

    Sorry, could not resist.

So you order 100 @US$2 per piece, free shipping. 30 will shave, with a bit of luck 50. A well made modern Western production razor starts at US$75. There is absolutely no way you can undercut the GDGD prices, because the markup is phenomenal.

So, coming back to ethics, who wants to own a tool that was made in a sweat shop? Razor, brush, cheap soap ingredients?

I do not. Which is why I avoid "artisans" and "small vendors" like the plague. Case in point: Straight Razor Designs has no such products in stock. Zero. Because they run their business in an ethical fashion, and they treat their suppliers well. And that, gentlemen, is how business should be.

For the record, I have several knots from TGN and they are unfailingly good quality - I also have a Thater 2 band finest and it's in a different league.
Gentlemen, if you want to expand the conversation to badger knots, or any other commodity, start a new thread. We've had complaints that this thread is being hijacked. Thanks for your cooperation.

Excellent job gentlemen threads like these only result in a spike in Gold Dollar sales, Why? Because the "I got to see for myself, what the fuss is all about" factor have kept this company thriving for years. As a wise man once said "There is no such thing as bad publicity."

I think the reference was to vegemite. Could be wrong.

Subaru make a very good car. For example, their insight crash avoidance and adaptive cruise control system beat out Mercedes, Audi, BMW etc. In the razor world, proper Japanese steel (and razors) are highly prized.

But if it helps you understand my point, let's pretend I drive a <insert whatever car you think is a good one here>.

Haha I didn't get the vegemite thing just that GDs seem to be love or hate items like marmite.

With regards the Subaru they are decent cars these days but until McRae took them to WRC glory they were considered just cheap tat. Which for many years they were cleanly overlooked as.
I have no doubt that similar arguments to this could have gone on regarding cars 20 or 30 years ago where scoobies are concerned.
That was my point about the GDs.

I also agree with the comments that they are false economy or certainly more expensive than the initial cost due to amounts of time and effort needed to get them to shave really well.
Irrespective of costs however I feel mine gives a fantastic shave...maybe I just hot lucky on a good one the same as some engines are just strong when created similarly same as others.
    Who knows...

Regards to you Jimbo though on the debate.
