    Default Funny Thing about Sears & Roebuck Sta-Sharp by Koeller

    I've had a number of these come and some go, but I still have this used pair. It seems pretty clear to me that Koeller made this particular model of Sears-Roebuck Sta-Sharp, and the razors were not marked 'made in Germany.' So Sears ignored the treaty of 1891 that required imports into the US to have country of origin. Note the box with the 'Kayser Ellison Steel marked on it. A British steel company that furnished stock to many of the large German razor makers back in the day. Always was curious why they are not marked 'Germany' when they obviously were made there.

    I do not have an answer to your question. There is and was a loop hole around things. Perhaps there was some percentage of assembly or product handling here to get around it. You think at the time it would have been a selling point considering their reputation. Nice looking razors and probably shave pretty good.

    Maybe they were finished during the second WW and Sears didn't want the product to reflect the country of origin, Germany.

    They do shave great. Here are a couple I used to have but they went to another shave den. Mint and I never shaved with them ;

    I hadn't thought of that John, and it is quite possible. I know that Ern made razors for Sears later on, and they were marked 'Germany.'

    Everyone has a razor brand that there hung up on, for me its the Sta-Sharp. With its stunning good looks and incredibly superior shave, it will always have a large place in my heart.
