Thanked: 3227I rinse my blades with cold water, wipe them and the insides of the scales dry with toilet paper, strop 10 passes on linen and leave open to for several hours. After that they go into several converted cutlery boxes for storage outside of the bathroom. The only time I may oil them is if I am going on an extended holiday. So far so good.

Thanked: 39I have had some rust issues it the past, just some rust on the tang where some water that I didn't quite get to drained down on it. I have abot 20 razors. I don't have any fancy holders yet. The razor I have ready for shaving I have put a small sticker on that says "Ready" on the handle. Some off mine hard the get sharp, may have to send them out to one of the guys that do that service. I make double sure now that they are dry and put a dab of Barricade on them and keep the so the oil doesn't drain on the scales. I had RAD when I first started but its getting better now. I have only 2 razors on my watch list on E-BAY right now.

I seen a guy who used glass jars with the air lock lid, and he had desiccant packs in there. That would work.
But I have found that just drying it thoroughly and leaving open to dry fir a few hours to do the trick. For long term I,m the same as Roger, my safe has a dehumidifier in it and my razors stay in there for long periods of time with no issues, and I rarely oil them. Thanked: 96I have found razor sleeves that is the same material used to store guns works the best. I stay in FL for Feb & March and have had no problems with my razors using the sleeves. At home in MD, the summers are hot and humid, I live near the ocean. After each use, I dry my razors with a paper towel, leave out opened for about an hour to dry completely then put the razor in the sleeve until I am ready to use it again.

I store mine with home made desiccant packs, silica gel kitty litter in coffee filters. The blue things are the Flambeau Zerust dividers that came with the plastic case, supposedly emit a protective gas. I also agree that a thorough and prompt drying is the best insurance. But being a belt and suspenders type....

Thanked: 10I only have one straight at the moment, but I know it won't stop there. I live in Michigan and don't use a/c so I've been wondering if the pretty humid summer here will affect my razors.
I'm thinking that a cigar humidor would be very easy to modify in order to hold a number of straights.Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read. -Groucho Marx

I use new, but never used, cigar boxes. They are hard balsa wood apparently. Not the soft stuff in hobby stores. I recently bought some desiccant gel packs and a humidity indicator. Thing that shocked me is even with 30times the amount of desiccant, the humidity in there is lower than outside, but tracks along with it. At the moment, the humidity in the box is 60%, outside is over 80% though. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe the wood is still drying out?
