Thanked: 39That's a neat Box! I lost out on 2 Barbers Boxes on E-Bay yesterday, got snipped right there at the end, One Box went from $44.00 to $72.00 in about 30 Min.

Thanked: 7Just finished my razor storage. Making this kinda sucked. All joinery cut by hand. I wanted the drawer/tray to be recessed way back to keep them out of sight. I used cherry and lined the bottom with cork. I put little 'bumpers' in to support the blade up so that it would sit flat (OCD is a blessing).

Nice job! Looks like it holds about 50 razors with extra storage on the left.

Thanked: 7Update: as much as i love the feel of the cork liner, it seems to be reacting to the metal. I had one W&B that had as small black square where the 'bumper' was. It polished off with a bit of elbow grease. I checked the other razors and they were ok. I assumed it was a one-off, but the next day all but 4 of my razors had some blackening. I'm wondering if the change of temperature/humidity is causing off gassing. I'll re-line it with something else. Any suggestions?

Nice design. If those bumpers are cork the chemicals in them could be reacting to the metal though not really sure if the fatty acids and suberin found in cork will do that. Suberin is a waxy substance. Cork won't absorb moisture so any humidity or anything in there won't dissipate as fast and if moisture gets in between the razor and bumper it won't go anywhere except to the razor. I'd use some felt or something else soft the will help wick away any moisture. I'd also toss a few dessicate packets in there.

Thanked: 7Thanks. I grabbed some felt but I'm a little short. will change it out soon. I taped some VCI paper to the bottom of the desktop (essentially, it covers them when the tray is closed).

Thanked: 96I found this beautiful antique , pipe holder on eBay and decided to take a chance and try it as a razor holder. It is made of solid wood and rotates freely making it very easy to access razors in a small area. I keep my razors in a sleeve and this holds them very well. I have looked for razor holders and racks and they were very expensive. Seems pipe holders could be a very inexpensive alternative. This holds 12 razors and in place of a tobacco jar, I use the opening to hold my shaving bowl.

I agree, wood or leather storage is risky in my mind. Both absorb and retain moisture. I have a wool knife roll treated with oil for my every day razors.
