Hope they are as good as the originals but I don't think they will.

What are your thoughts on this?
I sincerely don't believe they can reproduce the Sheffield steel or the old time craftsmanship of the old Wade & Butcher. If they are looking at Mass producing the razors, it's a waste of time. I value my old W & B over any current razor except for the customs.

The finest best shaving razors from the days when they were used daily were NOT made of stainless. I have never cared for stainless knives or razors. If you take good care of your blades there really is no need to use stainless steel anyway in my book. That is just my opinion & we all know about opinions!! LOL
So what is the latest from Wade & Butcher anyway??

I have a few very nice stainless blades: Friodur and Carl Schlieper.

I have to say, at first I was truly excited about this prospect. Reviving a great name and being able to purchase W&B brand new in my life time, but any more I could care less. There has been too much hype and build up not to mention a high price tag, I will keep enjoying my vintage wades and move on from hoping for this.

From the etching shown on Facebook, it seems that they are not trying to reproduce Sheffield steel, which I must admit I love. However, it seems they are planning on using Swedish stainless steel.

Swedish steel has an excellent reputation for quality. I know it is used in variety of DE razor blades as well as knives and straight razors.

I was told the old W & B got the ore from Sweden to make the steel. All I know is my vintage W & B and my Genco's from NY take a great edge and shave smooth. There is no way they can get the craftsman of the 1800 to make the razors. I'll pass on these.

Ahh the nostalgia aspect, same as guitars, somehow the old woods/ steel possesses mythical powers beyond our present grasp. Thank god we have eBay.
