Thanked: 18Wow! Quiet a rig. I have a few dual ended motors running at 3600 rpm. Used mostly to polish up brass for reloading. I am guessing it would take some time to acclimate to using a rig like this for cleaning up old SR's. I have a dermal with variable speed and buffing wheels. I have considered using this at lower speeds to avoid problems. If I am not mistaken I believe you advised against the dermal tool. Is this because some do not have a speed control?

Thanked: 18Kevin78: Thanks for the information, it is much appreciated. It has taken me a long time to develop with the SR. As I have mentioned I started night on 40 years ago with an old Wade&Butcher, which I still have. The scales have dropped off, but still useable, almost my preferred razor. I just might take one razor and give it a go with the Dremal.

Thanked: 39I use the cheapest dermal that you can buy and only use those small buffer wheel that come 5 in a pack. I have had "some" success on removing tarnish and et- al with Mothers or MASS. I have one razor though that needs something more, would some tarnish remover help? its an old Russian "Imperial" 5/8ths and I'm trying to keep as much of the decoration that is on the blade. This is a tough razor. I'm cleaning it up as a favor for my antique dealer barber shop guy, I have sold him several of my "singles" I bought in a buying frenzy at the beginning of the month (I had just got my first credit card in 7 years after loosing everything during the crash of 2008, "lost my job (it went out of business) and house". It was a drag, 3 years to owning my own home and poof!!.

Thanked: 18That sir was hard to read. I whine and complain about my life and feel like a sad sack when I come across problems of your nature. Hope all is well now, by my calculation it has been eight years. Some recover while others are still seeking a life line.

Thanked: 18Or break us. I do not favor hard times. I have been living them for nearly 40 years. I have pulled out of it only to have problems to keep landing and making me dig out of them time and again. I am at an age now that digging out is not as simple as it once was.
